How does it work?

Dritti: is the power of retaining or storing knowledge;
Smritti: is the power of recalling knowledge. When dhi-dritti-smritti are functioning optimally, the mind is able to cope with stress optimally as well. And the opposite is also true. 
Bacopa Monnieri in Ayurveda is called “aindri.” It is another kind of brahmi that is very cooling and has a relaxing effect on the mind. It is also known for supporting the functioning of dhi-dritti-smritti, like Gotu Kola. 
Jatamansi (Nardostachys) is a famous ayurvedic herb, similar to Indian Valerian, known for being a great antidote for mental stress.
This unique combination of 4 calming herbs, along with an easy-to-use fast and effective delivery system will help you relax, as well as give you a more alert and sharp mind, so you can handle the stress that inevitably accompanies holiday bliss.
 
Directions:
Whenever you feel stress or ungrounded, spray 3-5 times into oral cavity. Do not use more than 5 times in a day.

She studied and personally mentored with master Ayurvedic healer Vaidya Ramakant Mishra since 1997 and is certified by him as a SVA practitioner. She completed a 600-hour massage therapy curriculum in 2004 and is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist as well.

Chemtrails-What’s the SVA Perspective?
We frequently receive questions from all over the globe about different aspects of health. Here’s a question we received yesterday from Leah W. in Philadephia: “I’m also wondering about Chem trails. Did Vaidya ever talk about them and protection from whatever they are spewing the air?”
What are “chemtrails”? Many are proponents of the chemtrail conspiracy theory based on the belief that long-lasting condensation trails (chemtrails) consisting of toxic chemical or biological agents are left in the sky by high-flying aircrafts, sprayed for nefarious purposes undisclosed to the general public.While Vaidya did not address the question of chemtrails specifically, and whether or not you believe it’s a fact or a conspiracy theory, here is the bigger picture, in SV Ayurveda terms: chemtrails, as well as any other man-made toxic fumes or emanations fall under the category of Gara-visha or slow poisons. Here is yet another priceless example of Vaidya Mishra’s brilliant use of ancient ayurveda to modern conditions. There were no toxic external chemicals in Carak’s time or when the ayurvedic sutras were being assembled. So how can we address this modern phenomenon with ancient remedies and protocols? Let’s look at the actual use of the term “gara-visha” in the ancient texts. Gar(a) means “slow” and vish(a) means poison as already mentioned. Garavisha is thus a slow poison in the sense that it is a substance whose toxic action reveals itself after an extended period of time and not immediately. In ancient times, the ayurvedic healers coined this term to refer specifically to slow poisons external to the body, such as those carried by some animals and insects. Vaidya Mishra, through his SVA expertise, extends this original definition of garavisha from the ayurvedic shastras or texts to encompass our modern concept of xenobiotics – from xenos (Greek for foreign) and bio (living organism). 
Xenobiotics & Garavisha 
The ancient concept of garavisha, as Vaidya Mishra explained, can help us deal with the modern phenomenon of xenobiotic toxicity or chemical compounds that our bodies are exposed to in this day and age. Xenobiotics, as the root of the word indicates, are elements that foreign to our bodies, as in not produced by our own bodies. They are external and externally acquired in the sense that our bodies do not “produce” garavisha – just like our bodies are said “produce” ama or amavisha as the result of poor digestion and poor dietary habits. Rather, garavisha toxins enter our bodies from the environment. In this sense, garavisha is an exogenous toxin, a poisonous substance that enters our body from outside. For example: chemically manufactured drugs (medicinal or recreational); environmental compounds or pollutants such as synthetic pesticides; herbicides; industrial pollutants and preservatives that are nowadays commonly used in personal care products such as: SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulfate as a foaming agent in shampoos and body soaps); Parabens (an industrial preservative used in facial creams and body care products); synthetic scents in air diffusers and laundry soaps; synthetic flavors in food items; and coloring agents found all across the spectrum of food and external skin products; etc. All these are not found in nature, they do not grow in nature, but are rather lab manufactured and derived. Their primary property is to be insiduous, literally: they proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, and with harmful effects.
Xenobiotics enter our body insidiously, silently, without our being aware or feeling discomfort or anything. They enter our bodies when we inhale synthetic fumes; or they transdermally cross our blood barrier when we apply them on our skin, or touch a surface that carries toxic chemicals; alternatively, they result from the oral consumption of synthetic chemical products or products that contain synthetic elements – flavorings, preservatives, etc. They can also ooze out from plastic and/or aluminum containers that are heated in our kitchens. Or from non-stick pots and pans. Second hand smoke or other toxic fumes from wall paint etc are also a good example. Vaidya explained that Garavisha molecules are too small and foreign for the immune system to process, so they get to sit around in the physiology and cause slow but long term damage on a micro-cellular level, eventually resulting in chronic ill-health.
There’s growing awareness about the dire health repercussions of xenobiotic toxicity. However, we are still a long way from eliminating and cleansing our lifestyles from toxic chemical contamination. So what to do? Are we to walk around in oxygen masks in order to protect ourselves?!!
First off, we do not need to wait to get sick in order to detox garavisha. Vaidya Mishra taught us and recommended safe and effective daily detox for optimal well-being. Our bodies naturally initiate detox on a daily basis! Through our evacuatory organs (daily urination and bowel movements), but also through our skin (sweating). But in addition to this, since garavisha is harder on the body to detox, obviously the immediate thing to do is discontinue the use of or exposure to toxic chemicals and products starting with self-care products: soaps, toothpaste, shampoo, perfumes, hair dyes, shaving products, laundry detergents, dishwasher liquids, general cleaning products, chemicals and dyes in our transportation systems or the environment we work in; preservatives in our food, etc. Keep a healthy diet and exercise routine to support daily elimination. And when you are on top of this ayurvedic regimen, then you can optimize things by adding special divine herbs to your protocol. 
Vaidya Mishra specially formulated a slow-toxin detox tea, called “Garavisha Tea” to help bind and evacuate toxic molecules of garavisha that we willy-nilly ingest since we are exposed to xenobiotic molecules in so many aspects of our daily lives in this day and age. 
In this detox tea:
Guduchi: will re-establish molecular intelligence and support the body to identify and eliminate toxic micro-molecules; 
Indian sarsaparilla will eliminate the fat soluble toxins by supporting the intelligent functioning of the fat metabolism; 
Neem will activate the detox process and support the immune system; 
Basil will support the body’s immunity to help ward-off any detox crises and nourish tissues supporting the production of ojas – the finest substances of post-digestion that nourishes the neutro-transmitters ; 
Marshmallow root will lubricate the channels to protect from the toxins, as it also coats the toxins to contain their reactivity while they are evacuated through our detox pathways; 
Peppermint will help maintain the channels open so as to facilitate toxic evacuation; 
Slippery elm will supply lubrication for the channels as well as support the growth of friendly bacteria to help strengthen immunity; 
Coriander will help bind and eliminate virulent toxins such as mercury, lead, arsenic, and more;
Rose will maintain the physiology cool and balanced during the detox process of the insidious and highly toxic garavisha waste.
As always and as mentioned above, for optimal results, use this tea in conjunction with the SVA Diet, and/or prep your physiology by stopping the intake of toxic substances or food, or exposure to a toxic environment before initiating detox.

Directions
Use ½ tsp of tea per cup. Bring to a gentle boil, filter and drink. Drink no more than 2 cups a day, one morning and one evening. If you are already drinking any other personal herbal tea, give 1-2 hours gap before consuming this tea. Or use as directed by your SVA expert.

“Why are we offering this course?
The Holiday Season is upon us, Melina and I wanted to  create support for those who are perhaps without their  family members; are mourning the loss of a beloved; or due to unforeseen circumstances, will have to spend this festive season all alone, in solitude.

As to me, I used to sit and take notes for Vaidya Mishra during the ayurvedic wellness sessions he offered to clients all over the USA, but specially in Seattle back in the 1990’s. I remember him once saying how Sadhaka Pitta (the subdosha of Pitta that is in charge of processing emotions) was way out of balance in almost every woman’s pulse he touched in the USA! He also added that it was not like that in other countries. He explained that there were many factors contributing to this collective condition, but that much more seems to be expected from American women, and that they were not supported in their relationships here in the USA… Vaidya loved to illustrate his teachings with stories, and he often told the following story to those who were going through grief, or depression…”

The Holiday Season is upon us, Melina and I wanted to  create support for those who are perhaps without their  family members; are mourning the loss of a beloved; or due to unforeseen circumstances, will have to spend this festive season all alone, in solitude. 
We all know that the holiday season can be an emotionally trying time even for those who are not experiencing grief, depression, or solitude! But for those who are, it can reactivate repressed deeply buried memories, patterns, experiences – and bring even greater pain.  As a professional grief counselor, I witness it all the time in my clients. Your loss could have occured 3 months, 3 years, or 30 years ago – all it takes is a song; the smell or taste of food or a perfume; a word; they can trigger an avalanche of buried emotions and make you lose your grounding and revert to unwanted patterns of behavior. 
We will be discussing grief, but also depression – they are different aspects on the same spectrum. 
Both Melina and I will offer practical tools and tips that come from the teachings of our beloved ayurvedic guru and healer, Vaidya Ramakant Mishra, as he spoke and taught at length on this subject matter. 
When Melina met Vaidya Mishra in 1998 and became familiar with his ayurvedic protocols, she discovered the time-tested world of alternative tools (dietary and other) that allow for concrete palbable change in our ability to process and heal from mental and emotional turmoil without having to go through facing and battling the “beast within” analytically in hope of breakthroughs, or other non-viable options. She will share practical easy-to-implement gems from Vaidya’s SVA treasure-trove with you. 
As to me, I used to sit and take notes for Vaidya Mishra during the ayurvedic wellness sessions he offered to clients all over the USA, but specially in Seattle back in the 1990’s. I remember him once saying how Sadhaka Pitta (the subdosha of Pitta that is in charge of processing emotions) was way out of balance in almost every woman’s pulse he touched in the USA! He also added that it was not like that in other countries. He explained that there were many factors contributing to this collective condition, but that much more seems to be expected from American women, and that they were not supported in their relationships here in the USA… Vaidya loved to illustrate his teachings with stories, and he often told the following story to those who were going through grief, or depression…”

When temperatures drop in the Fall, our micro- and macro- circulatory channels shrink, trapping in excess pitta, keeping the nutrients and heat from circulating evenly, and resulting in cravings, specially for sweet and heavy. And if our agni is not sharp and balanced, we end up making ama. With our channels being clogged, the evacuation of toxins is also blocked, and you guessed it, our immunity crashes and we catch a cold or develop a cough. There are many things we can and should do to ward off the seasonal cough and cold. Here are some key practical tips:
  1. Mind your channels: your physical and vibrational channels need extra support when the weather gets colder. Don’t skip your morning self-massage. Even if you have to cut it short in case you are running late, do at least your arms and legs. Some light yoga and/or exercise will do wonders for your circulation as well as mental and emotional balance.
  2. Don’t skip or delay meals: this will further aggravate your pachak agni or digestive fire, make your vata dosha higher resulting in more sugar cravings. Keep your cravings in check with light easy to digest protein – if you are vegetarian, Vaidya’s Vegan Protein shake with Vaidya’s Vegan Protein Powder for example. 
  3. Be Dosha-wise: “dosha” means “fault” or “imbalance.” Nothing more. Being a body-type only means you have the propensity towards particular imbalances. And you can ward those imbalances off before they accumulate. Being a vata type or dosha, for example, only means you are prone to slow digestion, dry skin, a restless mind, etc. This can be corrected. It is not who you are unless you allow your body’s propensity for imbalance to take over. 
Following these three primary tips will help your immunity stay strong so you don’t contract infectous diseases, however, if you find you are contracting something, there are many ayurvedic remedies you can use. In particular one!
Vaidya’s SVA Tribindu spray is a must-have. Tribindu stands for – “tri” for three, and “bindu” for drop. Tribindu is made of 3 ingredients: Camphor, Ajwain, and Peppermint. Vaidya has brought this ancient formula back for us, adding another holy ingredient to it: Tulsi, to make it even more potent. 
How do you use Tribindu?
In India, during the rainy season, disease can be rampant in village settings because of the prominence of water and air-born infections. Vaidya’s ancestors used this formula to keep infections at bay within the individual or in the environment. They would recommend different ways of using it to either cleanse the environment or strengthen an individual’s immunity.
The ancestral SVA healers long knew about the powerful anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties of Camphor, Ajwain, and Peppermint. They also used this formula to help with insect and mosquito bites. In addition, they recommended it for extreme cold weather conditions when the body’s physical circulatory channels are known to shrink. In this case, simply inhaling this Tribindu would help relax and open the channels and support overall immunity – open channels release toxins much more easily and readily. Spray it on a cotton scarf or handkerchief and inhale gently. Or spray it in the room – if you get it in your eyes by mistake rinse off with cool water. Spray it on the soles of your feet at night and wear some loose socks and feel the warmth!

What is “True” Healing?
If you’ve been diagnosed with a disease, keep in mind that the name of the disease isn’t as important as what actually caused that disease…
  This is one (of the many) thing(s) I love about Ayurveda: we are able to detect the numerous imbalances that have been building up over a lifetime that resulted into the disease, and work on fixing those before they manifest as a chronic condition. 
While modern medicine offers amazing diagnostic tools which I encourage our patients to use, these methods of diagnosis can’t show or detect the subtle early imbalances which cause the disease. For many reasons.
Number one: the underlying imbalances are numerous: there is not just one cause for a particular health problem; and number two: these imbalances are often far removed from where the symptom is…
For example, most skin conditions come from old toxins sitting in the liver and blood; hair loss is usually caused by depletion of the bone tissue and/or thyroid problems; acid reflux usually is caused by lack of bile flow in the gall bladder; puffiness under the eyes mean the kidneys and liver are weak and overladen with toxicity; etc. 
Sometimes modern medicine can be used in a crisis to suppress and thus “control” the symptoms of a disease especially if the symptom is life-threatening, such as high blood pressure; but don’t forget to roll up your sleeves and fix the underlying cause of the high blood pressure: stop clogging your arteries with the hard cheeses or nut butters or red meats which cause the blood pressure to go up. Don’t start out your day with coffee which causes the release of cortisol, adrenaline and epinephrine from your adrenals, which shrinks down the arteries causing the blood pressure to go up. Thin out your blood with medicinal herbal teas; clean and support the congested overworked liver; restore the depleted magnesium; identify all the reasons in your particular case as to why the blood pressure is high and work on fixing them….
Adopt this approach to any disease and you’ll be surprised to see that our bodies are fully capable of when given the opportunity to heal themselves — we just have to nudge them in the right direction…

What’s Shroto Shuddhi Tea
& Why & How to Use It?
The Ayurvedic texts are clear about the importance of the physical circulatory channels: ”shroto mayo purusha,” – “the whole body is nothing but physical circulatory channels or shrota-s.” Vaidya taught us that only when your channels are open, and free from acidic toxins, can health be truly yours. Only when your channels are open and balanced can nourishment reach deep into the body and can toxins be flushed out regularly & completely from the body.
Shroto-Shudhi Tea compliments Vaidya’s Shroto-Shudhi Masala, but can be enjoyed on its own anytime by anyone, specially when the weather cools off! The masala targets channels in the body which carry “earthy soma” (food materials) and, when cooked with a good fatty medium (ghee, olive oil) it supports the metabolism of lipid soluble materials. On the other hand, the tea addresses “liquid soma” (water soluble materials) and gives you an immediate boost of energy and oxygenation. Both products open the channels and burn ama (partially digested food material) without aggravating amavisha – the reactive toxins sitting in the body.
When/how to use it?
You can start your day with it: start with a pinch for a cup of water (8oz) bring to a boil and enjoy. You may add almond milk (or cow’s milk) or a sweetener – or not. Should You Vaccinate Against the Flu or Not? Be an Informed Decision-Maker with
Dr Teitelbaum
 
Flu season is in full gear! We are currently in the middle of flu season and many people are wondering if they should hunker down and get a flu shot. Many have heard some negative things about the shot and are expressing concerns about some possible side effects, and would like me to give them some information so they can decide what they should do.
 
Before we begin our discussion, I do want to make it clear that it is totally up to you to decide which way to go. All I can do is present the pros and cons of both sides. You do what makes the most sense to you and what you feel most comfortable doing.
 
So here goes: the flu is a virus, thus there are no antibiotics you can take once you get it, since antibiotics only kill bacteria. Modern medicine has some medications to ward off the symptoms of the flu, such as decongestants, cough syrups, an antiviral drug, analgesics, and other anti-inflammatory pain relievers, but treatment consists primarily of rest and plenty of fluids to let the body fight the infection on its own.
 
How Does A Flu Shot Work? 
Flu shots are given to prevent infection by helping the body develop antibodies to the flu virus that is going around that year. Having said that…it is also good to know the other side of the argument:
 
First, the flu vaccine is far from perfect as it is only about 60% effective, and some years, such as this one, even much less.
 
Second, the flu shot does contain mercury, which in the long run can actually weaken your immune system, making you even more susceptible to getting the flu in the future. Keep in mind – the immune system consists of 1) the friendly bacteria in the gut – which are the first line of defense for incoming cold and flu viruses, which are in every breath we take; 2) the liver – which makes antibodies to diseases; and 3) the bone marrow – where most of the immune system cells are made – white and red blood cells and platelets.
 
From Ayurveda, we have learnt that mercury, one of the ingredients in the flu shot, is excessively hot by nature, so much so that it burns the friendly bacteria immediately after the shot is given. It also heats the liver, disrupting its normal function, and goes directly into the bone marrow due to its sharp piercing properties. Keep in mind that toxins accumulating in the bone marrow can trigger an autoimmune disease, which is why we ayurvedically explain that autoimmune diseases such as Guillain-Barre (and others) can occur after receiving a flu shot.
 
The body contains seven tissues (or dhatus) which we recognize in Ayurveda: rasa, rakta, mamsa, meda, asthi, majja and shukra. These are the Sanskrit names. In English they are: the blood plasma, blood, muscle, fat, bone, bone marrow, and reproductive fluids. There are gaps in between these seven tissues so that toxins cannot make their way into the bone marrow directly. Those gaps act as a filtering defense system, but also metabolize the incoming materials from one tissue to the next.We can say that it is Nature’s way of protecting us from developing autoimmune diseases and cancer by protecting and shielding the bone marrow in order to prevent a build up of toxins there.
 
HOWEVER, these very hot, piercing elements, such as mercury, which speedily bypass and penetrate through all the barriers, go directly into the bone marrow, wreaking havoc there.
 
What’s in your Flu Shot?
According to the CDC, here is a list of all the ingredients in a flu shot: four or five different flu strains, formaldehyde, aluminum, gelatin, mercury, chicken egg proteins, and antibiotics. 
 
Why is formaldehyde used in the flu shot? It is included because it is needed to deactivate the virus they are injecting into you to prevent it from actually giving you the flu, and also to kill any other toxins in the flu shot, preventing you from getting sick from them. (Please do keep in mind that formaldehyde itself is both toxic and deadly).
 
Why is aluminum used in the flu vaccine? Aluminum is considered an adjuvant to boost your immune system to respond to the virus they are injecting into you, which is one of the reasons many people will develop an autoimmune disease after their flu shot, as their immune system is synthetically pushed beyond its normal function. Adjuvants are also used to prevent sickness from the diseases after receiving the shot. Aluminum is the most common adjuvant used in vaccines. (Keep this in mind as well: it is a potent neurotoxin, and has repeatedly been shown in numerous studies to cause brain damage, especially Alzheimer’s). 
 
Why is Thimerosal (mercury) part of the flu vaccine? Because it keeps bacteria and fungi from growing in the vaccine which can otherwise happen when a syringe is in a vial. No need for a side note here as we just mentioned how deadly mercury is – in fact it is considered to be THE most deadly compound known to mankind.
 
Why are eggs in the flu shot? The flu virus needs somewhere to grow before it’s in the vaccine. The virus copies itself while in fertilized chicken eggs, and then it is separated from the egg and is now ready for vaccination. But sometimes egg protein remains in the virus after the process, which could be a problem for those allergic to eggs, or those who are strict vegetarians. Also, it is easy for infection to grow in the eggs, which is why antibiotics (neomycin) are included in the flu shot, as they keep bacteria from getting into the eggs, which aren’t sterile.
 
Here are a few other interesting facts to help you make a decision on which way to help you prevent and/or treat the flu:
 
1.      The latest research in the Journal of Virology found that the seasonal flu vaccine may weaken children’s immune systems and potentially increase their chances of catching other influenza viruses (see below).
2.    Children who did not receive a flu shot naturally built up more antibodies across a wider variety of influenza strains compared to vaccinated children.
3.    There are many unanswered questions about whether or not the flu shot is safe and effective as more studies are published showing it is neither.
4.    It is primarily the state of your health and immune system that determines whether or not you will get sick from being exposed to viral or bacterial organisms associated with diseases like colds and flus. Healthy lifestyle choices as indicated here will boost your immunity, whereas vaccinations can be immune-suppressing.
 
Perhaps the study which alarmed me the most regarding the flu shot was from Bodewes R., et al., Journal of Virology, Volume 85, August 31, 2011, entitled, “Annual vaccination against influenza virus hampers development of virus-specific T cell immunity in children.”
 
Here is a brief quote from the article, “Our results indicate that annual influenza vaccination is effective against seasonal influenza but hampers the development of virus-specific T cell responses. The consequences of these findings are discussed in the light of the development of protective immunity to seasonal and future pandemic influenza viruses.”
 
Let me translate: There are two types of immune system cells – the B cells (so-called because they develop in the bone marrow) which produce antibodies, and the T cells (which develop in the thymus gland) which recognize and kill virus-infected cells. And some T cells help the B cells make antibodies to fight infections.
 
It is your T cells which connect to viruses on the outside of infected cells and kill them. Thus they find and destroy infected cells that have been turned into virus-making factories. 
 
The alarming thing about this article is that it demonstrates once and for all that the flu shot can actually suppress the development of these extremely important T cells. What this means is that while yes, by receiving a flu shot, you (or your child) may not get the flu this year (although many, many of my patients come down with the flu after receiving one), in the long run you may seriously disable your immune system in the future, making it less effective in warding off colds and flus. 
 
This is the modern medical model of how to prevent the flu. Let’s switch now to a somewhat less toxic approach used in SVA to both prevent and treat symptoms of the flu.
 
SVA Tips and Guidelines to Protect Against the Flu
First, now that you know the three parts of the immune system, keep them in good working order by either taking a good probiotic such as Natren’s probiotics or making good homemade yogurt from Natren’s yogurt starter and then making lassi or buttermilk to keep your friendly bacteria in good shape. Be careful with having milk and milk products in the Winter time. Always add some spice mixture, or fresh ginger if you can handle and like it, to help you digest milk products and yoghurt fully. Vaidya’s Mom’s Masala is pretoasted and can be added to your lassi (buttermilk).
 
Next, take very good care of your liver, which means watch all the food you eat, the pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals you take, the skin care products you use, as well as your exposure to pesticides, heavy metals and air pollution, as the liver has to clear the body of all these toxins. Seek out advice from an SVA practitioner to see if you need any of our herbs which can support the liver in all its functions.
 
Support your bone marrow through the use of moringa drops, tea or powder, or you can actually cook with moringa leaves and/or drumstick if you can find them (usually available in Indian markets). In addition, guduchi is the best herb for cleaning the bone marrow – available in drops, transdermal creams, tablets and guduchi satwa powder, if your liver is too hot to handle guduchi leaf tablets. Just follow the directions on the bottles for proper dosage.
 
Zinc can dismantle cold or flu viruses, but it must be burnt repeatedly into an ash, called a bhasma, for best absorption and assimilation into the cells. We have two strengths of zinc (called “Yasad Bhasma”), regular and Maha (which is a higher potency) drops. Put five drops in one cup of alkaline spring water a day and drink it down (only once a day is necessary).
 
Melt 1 tbs ghee, add 1 tsp of dried ground turmeric and saute it over a low heat for a couple of minutes to allow the turmeric to infuse into the ghee. Then pour this on your food 2-3 times a day. Turmeric can also kill viruses and bacteria upon contact. This is recommended when you actually have the flu or a cold to kill the virus. Then go back to your regular use of turmeric after the infection is gone. 
 
Some people recommend simmering turmeric in milk at bedtime for a few minutes to ward off infections. Add 2 pinches to your cup of milk and let simmer. Sip slowly after it cools down.
 
Immuno Support capsules can be taken, one after breakfast and one after dinner, if you choose to take an herbal route. These are various Ayurvedic herbs to boost your immune system to prevent a cold or a flu. Or you could choose immune support drops, 3 drops a day in 24 oz room temperature spring water, sipped slowly throughout the day.
 
Amla berry has 20 times more vitamin C than an orange, yet turns alkaline when it comes into the body, and has been used to ward off colds and flus for centuries. This is available in tablet (two tablets a day) or drop form (3 drops a day) as well.
 
Drink 1/2 cup pomegranate juice diluted with 1/2 cup spring water with 1 tsp raw honey added to it to fight cold and flu viruses.
 
For coughs, there are numerous herbs from Boswellia drops to fight inflammation in the lungs to Kantakari cough syrup (not for children under 12) to kantakari drops (for all age groups). Kantakari is a bronchodilator, and works to open up the bronchial tubes if you are having difficulty breathing.
 
And finally, as always, eat a healthy diet and go to bed early, to allow for optimum immune function. By using all these tools, you will be better prepared to both prevent and treat any cold or flu symptoms that might come your way this winter/spring.
