In Vaidya’s herb cabinet, there are many wonderful preparations! One of these he called “Tripti Tea” – a tea that gives satiation (tripti) by helping you beat your cravings. Below we share an email by Jyotishi and SV Ayurvedic educator, Blaine Watson. Also, the story of his first encounter with Vaidya Mishra.

“Before we met Vaidya Mishra we thought we were following a pretty good Ayurvedic diet. Still, the experience of eating to fullness and beyond was often driven by a feeling of dissatisfaction that left us craving for something more. Ayurveda teaches that in order to feel satisfied with the food we eat, each meal must contain all 6 tastes, sweet, sour, salt. bitter, pungent and astringent. Dissatisfaction with our meals leads to overeating. The craving for satisfaction is one of the major contributors to weight gain.

Vaidya’s great genius was in prescribing spice mixtures and herbal tea formulas for each person that would give these 6 tastes while simultaneously restoring balance to an imbalanced system.

“Tripti Tea is one of the most useful preparations, amongst literally hundreds – if not thousands of preparations – that he created.

Tripti Tea is used to enhance and support sugar metabolism, cut cravings. It will leave you feeling energized, and create bliss in your heart!

The Sanskrit word, tripti, means contentment or bliss, and is defined by a lack of craving. This special, tea formulation strengthens the metabolic intelligence of the body in order to remove sugar or other cravings. A blend of 16 divine herbs and spices, Tripti-Tea™ will help you process carbohydrates and sugar and convert them to energy.

With its subtle aroma and bitter-pungent taste, this tea enhances tissue transformation (dhatu paka) and leads directly to a feeling of contentment, satiety or tripti.”

Camille Stranger

(June 3, 1947 – December 14, 2023)

Navaratri at the Prana Center with Vaidya Mishra and his “shakti”-es! Chatsworth, 2009

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our dearest friend Camille. She was an extraordinary woman. A “shakti” as Vaidya Mishra used to call her, in the truest sense of the word: a warrioress whose greatest weapons were the unconditional love and the light she brought into peoples’ lives. An avid student of all things vedic since a young age, she was a certified meditation instructor and SVAyurveda councilor. Also a greatly talented writer and poet herself. Perhaps, the 13th century Sufi mystic poet Jallaludin Rumi’s words express it best:

Gone to the Unseen

~ Jallaludin Rumi

At last you have departed and gone to the Unseen.

What marvelous route did you take from this world?

Beating your wings and feathers,

you broke free from this cage.

Rising up to the sky

you attained the world of the soul.

You were a prized falcon trapped by an Old Woman.

Then you heard the drummer’s call

and flew beyond space and time.

As a lovesick nightingale, you flew among the owls.

Then came the scent of the rose-garden

and you flew off to meet the Rose.

The wine of this fleeting world

caused your head to ache.

Finally you joined the tavern of Eternity.

Like an arrow, you sped from the bow

and went straight for the bull’s eye of bliss.

This phantom world gave you false signs

But you turned from the illusion

and journeyed to the land of truth.

You are now the Sun –

what need have you for a crown?

You have vanished from this world –

what need have you to tie your robe?

I’ve heard that you can barely see your soul.

But why look at all? –

yours is now the Soul of Souls!

O heart, what a wonderful bird you are.

Seeking divine heights,

Flapping your wings,

you smashed the pointed spears of your enemy.

The flowers flee from Autumn, but not you –

You are the fearless rose

that grows amidst the freezing wind.

Now the words are over

and the pain they bring is gone.

Now you have gone to rest

in the arms of the Beloved.

“Dearest Camille: everything you said and did came from your heart and touched and healed us…. we are devastated to see you go, but so happy you have begun your journey towards the celestial realms, to re-unite with your eternal beloved, Peter, and your dear Vaidya Mishra! We will miss you every day ….

Until we meet again… soon …”
