We are happy to make available brand new sterling silver items for puja. A large silver ghee lamp that comes with a small jar of ghee and 10 cotton wicks.
A 5 stick incense holder with attached silver small silver tray.
No puja can be complete without a Kuber Kolam: the mystical mathetical yantra that invites Laxmi Devi’s opulence.
The Sri Devi Yantra
A yantra is a Vedic geometric design or mystical diagram inscribed on paper, etched in metal, or fashioned three dimensionally. Yantras are often associated with a particular deity (law of nature) and used to enhance meditation; protect from harmful influences; develop particular powers; attract wealth or success, etc.
The Shri Yantra is called the mother of all yantras because all other yantras derive from it. It represents the cosmos at the macrocosmic level and the human body at the microcosmic. This yantra’s nine interlocking triangles centered around the bindu (central point) consists of five downward pointing triangles, representing Shakti (cosmic female principle) and four upright triangles, representing Shiva (cosmic male principle). The nine interlocking triangles form forty-three small triangles each housing a presiding deity associated with particular aspects of existence.
The Shri Yantra is a tool to give a vision of the totality of existence. Contemplating the Shri Yantra helps us rediscover and experience our divine source.
Now you can wear the Sri Devi Yantra daily! (comes with a 15inch mango orange cotton thread).
Happy Navaratri!

Yakrit, the Sanskrit term for the ‘liver,’ literally means ‘where every process happens.’ The liver – the largest organ in our bodies – carries out hundreds of actions, primarily detoxifying and creating new blood; filtering out toxins/chemicals; building immunity. But did you know that it also has an amazing capacity to regenerate itself? Without the liver we wouldn’t be able to transform food into energy, by breaking down fats and proteins. Here are some of the liver’s most vital functions:
Produces fresh blood AND cleans toxins out of the blood: the many cells of the liver, known as hepatocytes, accept and filter this blood. They act as little sorting centers, determining which nutrients should be processed, what should be stored, what should be eliminated via the stool, what should go back to the blood; it also gets rid of old red blood cells; the liver thus regulates/maintains healthy amount of blood in the body;
Produces bile, a fluid that helps the body digest (break down) fat: the liver stores fat-soluble vitamins as well as minerals such as copper and iron, releasing them when the body needs them. It also helps to break down fats in a person’s diet: it either metabolizes fats or releases them as energy. The liver produces an estimated 800 to 1000 ml of bile each day. This bile flows into the small intestine where the fat gets broken down and absorbed – extra bile is stored in the gallbladder.
As if these functions weren’t enough, the liver also plays a major role in the following:
Metabolizes proteins and carbohydrates so they turn into energy and your body can use them;
Creates immune system factors that help fight against infection;
Create proteins responsible for blood clotting – otherwise we would bleed to death!
Breaks down old and damaged red blood cell;
Balances energy metabolism by converting glycogen to glucose and storing extra glucose by converting it to glycogen. Glycogen is a form of glucose that your body stores mainly in your liver and muscles. Your body needs carbohydrates from the food you eat to form glucose and glycogen.
Makes toxins less harmful to the body and removes them/detoxifies the bloodstream
So you can see how and when, for any reason, the “intelligence” of the liver gets compromised, different kinds of dis-ease may emerge. A compromised liver can mean compromised health on many levels…
In Shaka Vanshiya Ayurveda, we pay special attention to making sure the liver does not get “cranky” – as Vaidya Mishra would jokingly explain. Having taken the pulse of thousands of people who had “cranky hot livers,” he put together a gentle yet effective protocol to help cool things off and optimize its functions.

Jump-start Your Digestion with Pro-Pachaka! – ALL 10% Off
There seems to be a tidal wave of recorded unprecedented cases of “food allergies” or “food sensitivities”…. Science is trying to isolate the cause and understand how to address this. But Ayurveda already gives us some answers. For example: did you know that in Autumn, even the best amongst us experience poor digestion? Ayurveda explains that this is a “natural” experience as Summer winds down into Autumn, and the sun resumes its southbound journey in the sky. There are many external natural factors that contribute to the weakning of the digestive fire. Volumes have been written about it. And as always, in Ayurveda, it is a case-by-case situation. But there are some simple things that can be added or taken away from one’s diet to help improve digestion. Digestion is the building-block for health. Without optimal digestion no one can be healthy. In addition, poor digestion impacts our mental (and emotional) activities, and can impact our overall life and productivity.
In this week’s newsletter, Dr. Teitelbaum covers this topic with great clarity, wisdom, and humor! The answer is NOT to keep eliminating food items that are impacting our digestion to the point where you literally are left with almost nothing to eat! Instead, Ayurveda recommends you clear-up your digestive fire, sharpen the pachak pitta flame (in your stomach) as well as in the “sandhi-s” or the gaps between each tissue… Reach out to her and set up an ayurvedic consult for recommendations tailored to your body-type. In the meantime, here are a few things you can do:
1)Add Vaidya Mishra’s Pro-Pachaka supplements to your diet, or 2 drops of the Nectar, or apply the Pro-Pachaka cream on your stomach and lower abdomen twice daily.
2) Eat pineapple or papaya with your meals to help support your digestive enzymes. Avoid pineapple or papaya if you have concerns about estrogen/hormone balance. If you are avoiding estrogenic fruits, make sure to have an apple a day instead – at 3pm daily.

What’s
Left
To Eat?!
~ Dr Marianne Teitelbaum
Over the past several decades, a new phenomenon has arisen: we are becoming food averse, to the point that we are now avoiding all various classifications of food, and ultimately pushing ourselves into a corner where there is hardly any food left to eat! Let me explain what I see happening to many of the patients I speak with on a daily basis.
First, people began avoiding gluten and dairy as they became sensitive or allergic to their proteins. The proteins in gluten and dairy are the two most difficult to digest and unless your digestion is working 100% you will develop a sensitivity to them as they remain undigested in your gastrointestinal tract.
Next, lots of people found out that that histamine was bothering them, so they eliminated those foods which contain high histamine, such as citrus fruits, pineapple and bananas, fermented dairy products such as kefir, cheese and yogurt, fermented soy, such as miso, tempeh and soy sauce, certain species of fish such as tuna, mackerel, sardines, anchovies, and shellfish such as crab, lobster and shrimp.
And now there are lots of books and blogs reminding us of the dangers of oxalates and are recommending we avoid them as well. Oxalates are found in green leafy vegetables, such as kale, spinach, chard and collard greens, rhubarb, okra, beets, sweet potatoes, berries, kiwi, figs, oranges, soybeans, black beans, navy beans and lentils, grains such as wheat bran, quinoa and buckwheat, and dark chocolate, tea and cocoa. Oxalates in the food may cause certain susceptible people to form kidney stones. This is because oxalates can bind to minerals like calcium which can form crystals, leading to the formation of kidney stones.
And Dr. Steven Gundry wrote his ground-breaking books alerting us to the dangers of foods which contain phytates and lectins, leading a large swath of the world’s population to avoid them. Phytates are found in whole grains, bran, oats and wheat, soybeans, lentils, chickpeas and kidney beans, almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds. And lectins are contained in wheat, barley and rye, soybeans, lentils, chickpeas and kidney beans, tomatoes, eggplant, white potatoes and bell peppers, milk and cheese, apples, bananas and cherries.
In addition to this never-ending list of foods to avoid, people are now also getting in-depth blood work to identify the foods they are sensitive and allergic to, sometimes adding dozens of otherwise healthy foods to the growing list of foods they must also avoid.
Some patients who suffer with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other digestive disorders are told to avoid high FODMAP foods, such as wheat, rye, onions, garlic, beans, lentils, chickpeas and other legumes, certain fruits like apple, pears, watermelon, mangoes, apricots, cherries, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums, vegetables such as cauliflower, honey and many dairy products including milk, ice cream, soft cheeses and others.
Others who have an overgrowth of candida albicans yeast (which is basically 95% of the population) are told to avoid foods that feed yeast, which is almost every food known to mankind.
And others on their own have decided to go on special diets such as a keto diet, which recommends avoiding grains, sugars, fruits, and starchy vegetables such as potatoes and corn.
And many others now follow a Paleo diet which excludes grains, legumes, beans, lentils, and dairy products.
There are other exclusive diets which are too numerous to mention here, but I think you get the idea.
So this pretty much leaves us with with a measly list of a few scant foods left that are safe to eat, leaving us malnourished and depleted. And hungry. But afraid to eat anything.
So what’s the answer to all this? Is it safe or even beneficial to avoid all these foods? What does Ayurveda have to say about all this?
The answer to these questions is multifaceted. Let’s turn over one stone at a time and figure out our way through this maze we have found ourselves trapped in.
Before we begin avoiding foods just because we learn about its negative qualities, Ayurveda recommends first fixing your digestion. If you have balanced digestive fires you should be able to eat many of these foods. For example, the first thing I do with each and every patient is to fix their digestion, at the level of the gut, liver, pancreas and gall bladder and by doing so, even if it takes a year or two, foods that used to bother them no longer do so. This is especially true of all the food allergies we see in our patients. In fact, when they go back and get their foods retested, many of the old food sensitivities and allergies have gone away.
What I find clinically in my practice every day is that just about most people walking the planet have had their gut micro biome destroyed from the overuse of antibiotics, birth control pills, vaccines, acid reflux medicines and steroids. All medicines in general have an adverse effect on the liver, which is considered the seat of digestion, and birth control pills create problems with the gall bladder, creating a thickening of the bile known as bile sludge, which makes it hard to digest fats.
When you start adding up the devastation to the digestive tract you can see why many people are now sensitive to just about any food they eat. They are left with such weak digestion that whatever foods they eat won’t be digested correctly, forming what we call ama visha in Ayurveda. Ama visha means poison. So no wonder they don’t feel well after they eat if everything, even healthy foods, turn into poison after they eat it. And this weak digestion is also paving the way for sensitivities to histamine, oxalates, and whatever other negatives may be lurking in the food. So then it becomes easy for us to blame the phytates, lectins, histamines and oxalates when the real truth is that we might not be as sensitive to these foods if we had normal digestion.
Next, the ancient doctors did state that many foods had negative qualities, but they recommended how to avoid these irritating traits. For example, they knew that the skin of the almonds was bad for you: now we know it is loaded with phytates and lectins which may cause leaky gut. So it was always recommended to soak the almonds overnight and peel the skin before eating them.
In the same way it was recommended to soak beans, lentils and grains overnight, drain the water in the morning and cook them in fresh water. Doing so will remove many of the phytates and lectins found in these foods.
Soaking, sprouting, cooking and fermenting foods was always recommended in Ayurveda. Of course, they didn’t have the terminology that we use nowadays but we can see that by doing so it will reduce the levels of histamines, oxalates, phytates and lectins contained within the food.
The ancient doctors said many vegetables contained compounds which were potentially bad for us, but much of these compounds would come out during the cooking process. For example, it is always important to cook the green leafy vegetables such as kale and spinach which will remove about 60% of their oxalates. I cringe when my patients tell me they juice spinach and kale every day and then worry why their nails seem so weak to the point where they begin peeling. The nails are giving you a good indication of the health of the bones, which means that the high levels of oxalates found in the raw kale and spinach are leeching the minerals out of their bones.
The cruciferous vegetables such as kale, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and bok choy contain goitrogens which depress the thyroid gland. But cooking them releases about 60% of them, making them safe to eat. I always wonder how many people are unwittingly depressing their thyroid gland every day by drinking raw kale smoothies?
So here is my quick answer to many of our patients who find themselves in a corner with no foods left to eat:
Yes, if a food bothers you, avoid it for now. This means you are making ama visha, or a poison from that food because you are not able to digest it.
But if you spend the time and effort to fix your digestion and then learn the Ayurvedic way to prepare food correctly by either soaking, sprouting, and properly fermenting the food, it will prevent the side effects of each and every food mentioned here. In addition, learning both how to cook the food and the proper use of spices will also help tamp down the side effects of foods. Don’t forget, all the spices not only support your digestion, but they work even better than the current fad of taking digestive enzymes: certain spices help in the digestion of fats, protein and carbohydrates in the food, so learning how to use them will also help mitigate the nasty side effects found in the otherwise healthy foods.
So yes, continue to read the books and blogs, and listen to the podcasts about foods, but always remember that when we learn about these nasty compounds held within the fibers of the foods, we don’t want to think that right off the bat they need to be eliminated from our diet to the point where there is nothing left to eat.
And at the same time, remember that most of us have had our digestion weakened from all the pharmaceuticals we took, even if it was 20 or more years ago. Unless you fix your digestion, it will make you extremely sensitive to most if not all foods. Even if your digestion was damaged decades ago. Unless you figured out how to fix your liver, thin out your bile, bring up your digestive enzymes naturally and repopulate your gut micro biome, then many of these foods will make you sick. Especially if you don’t know how to mitigate their side effects.
But if you fix your digestion, learn all the proper ways to prepare food and cook it with spices to enhance your digestive functions, you can open up your world to eating a great variety of food once again.
Having said all that, Ayurveda also warns against improper combinations of foods. For example, it is not recommended to eat yogurt and spinach together. And heating honey destroys the delicate enzymes in it, turning it into a food that can clog your body’s physical channels. So it must always be taken raw at room temperature and not cooked or baked into foods.
Plus, they have guidelines about the proper intake of food, such as dairy products, yogurt and many other foods. Instructions are given so as how to buy the best quality foods and and then how to prepare them in the proper way before eating to maximize both their digestion and absorption into the bloodstream. For example, many of our patients who told me they were lactose intolerant were pleasantly surprised when they incorporated the good quality milk, such as raw A2 non-homogenized milk from grass-fed cows and were taught how to boil it first to make it more digestible, how to take it in the correct way and also learned which foods it properly combines with.
And here is one last bit of advice: if you do find a food that you like and it agrees with you, don’t overdo it. Because if you eat that food over and over several times a week or on a daily basis, eventually the negatives in that food will start to make themselves known and you might develop a sensitivity to that food. So my best advice is to also keep a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes and proteins in your diet to avoid this tendency. But at the same time work with an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner who knows how to both fix your digestion while at the same teaches you how to prepare and combine the foods correctly to prevent the side effects you may be hearing about.
I hope this information was helpful to you as you try to figure out what to eat in this world with all the dietary advice being hurled at you from all sides. I think you’ll like the level headed approach Ayurveda has to offer.

Vata Dosha Pacification: Delicious Kitchdis, Chutneys, and more! – ALL 10% Off
Autumn is here and things feel helter-skelter! All of a sudden there is too much going on and we are falling behind on our commitments and deadlines… To top things of off, our cravings for sweet, and then sour, and then salty, but then again maybe more sweet, or wait – salty and crunchy… You get the picture! Our cravings are in a state of havoc, no matter what we eat we seem to crave something else, but we are also NOT digesting well… You may feel bloated, or bowel-movements are no longer following their regular schedule, etc.
According to SV Ayurveda, here is what is happening: with the Summer heat, our pitta dosha goes high and our pachak agni goes off. With pitta dosha high we crave lots of soma-genic foods (ice-cream, ice-cream, and more ice-cream!). Pitta feels cooled off, but agni, our digestive flame goes off. This upsets and blocks vata dosha but with the Summer heat things can still be tolerable. But when when Autumn arrives and the sun starts its southward journey again, and there is less and less agni in the environment, vata dosha goes even higher. This is what is happening in the physical body. And then the mind’s mode gets inevitably driven by the imbalances of the body. What does this mean? You may feel ungrounded for no reason, forgetful, excessively stressed, restless, your sleep may feel disrupted – you go to bed and fall asleep and suddenly wake up with heart palpitations, or your sleep is light and you wake up tired etc…
So what to do? The key lies in your stomach! Reset your digestion… Balance pitta, re-ignite agni, vata will get pacified automatically. In the stomach: that’s where everything begins and ends. There are classical ayurvedic recipes and tips for eating for shifting gears diet-wise in Autumn. But Vaidya Mishra made it even easier for us by creating delectable chutneys, kitchdi blends and more: easy to assemble, delicious, nourishing, AND re-balancing for your physiology. Feel the calm, experience a strong digestive fire, get fully reset, and enjoy the beauty of the unfolding Autumn season. Every season comes bearing its own gifts. Let this season also be a blissful balanced season for you with SVA. Namaste!

A Free 2 Hour Workshop
this Sunday
September 15, 2024 @2pm PDT
Dear Friends,
As someone who shares an interest in Ayurveda, I am excited to share some news with you. I have recently put together an eBook on how to prevent osteoporosis, a topic very dear to my heart.
When I first met Vaidya Mishra, my primary question was, “How do I prevent osteoporosis, which caused my mother to break bones, shrink in height, and become bedridden?” His wisdom profoundly impacted me, and I now feel a deep sense of responsibility to pass it on.
To explore these valuable insights, I have put together a mini eBook “The Seven Daily Habits to Build Strong Bones.” I will also be running a free workshop on Sunday September 15th.
Click here to join me on September 15th. There will be a Q&A following the presentation so you can ask me ANY questions.
~ this workshop will be recorded and made available for future replay ~

Why Vetiver & Aloe Lotion Is Great for Summer…10% Off This Week
Cool as a Cucumber
this Summer
with
Vetiver and Aloe!
Towards the end of Summer, just before things cool off, we may feel that we tolerate hot temperatures even less than usual! That’s because we are experiencing an accumulation/aggravation of pitta dosha. This is why the ayurvedic rishis recommended that we detox at “ritu sandhi” – the juncture between the two season – and balance out our doshas before embarking on the next season. You can read Vaidya Mishra’s blog to find out what you can do for the transition from Summer to Autumn. But in the meantime, there are several quick things you can do to cool off!
Ayurveda offers plenty of solutions to help us cool off. Diet is, of course, number one. Make sure you rehydrate with fresh fruit juices and lots of lime and fresh mint leaves. Also: you can never have enough rose in the summertime! If you haven’t tried Vaidya delectable rose petal preserve that’s sweet and carries a light tangy taste as well, this is the best time to discover it! Also make sure you keep your work load pleasantly light and take enough breaks to refresh.
Otherwise, there’s more you can do by harnessing the intelligence of natural plants and ingredients. Such as Vetiver. Or Aloe. In Vaidya’s village, there is a long local tradition of using vetiver to refresh and cool things off on hot summer days. That’s what inspired him to put together his SVA “Aloe Vetiver Lotion.”
This SVA Summer lotion carries the following herbal preparation:
This herbal synergy is pranically preserved as per Vaidya’s lineage formulation techniques, and added to a base of organic coconut (Cocos nucifera), Grapeseed oil (Vitis vinifera), Vegetable stearic acid, Organic aloe juice, Neem (Azadirachta indica), Kosher vegetable glycerin, Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), and Emulsifying wax (NF).
How does it work?
Before the use of Air Conditioning devices was introduced in remote Indian villages, and even nowadays, Indian homes in North India used vetiver grass mats hanging on their windows to cool off from stifling summer heat. Freshly woven Vetiver grass mats not only infuse a delightful cooling aroma to the entire house, but the scented molecules actually carry cooling properties. Ayurveda teaches us that, property-wise, vetiver is: sheeta (cooling); snigdha (unctuous or anti-drying); and sugandha (highly aromatic.) Vetiver nurtures the first layer of the skin called udakdhara (water-holding), and penetrates even deeper to the raktadhara (blood layer.) In summer, the increased agni in the environment increases the heat in the blood. That’s why we experience more heat in the body and brain. Vetiver aromatically cools off the blood and with regular use can even cool the muscle and fat tissues.
When you combine Vetiver with Aloe Vera, you get double the power!
Aloe Vera is famous world-wide for soothing topical burns. Mostly water soluble, aloe offers refreshing coolness to the first layer of the skin – udakdhara (water holding) – and enhances the skin’s luster and complexion. Aloe is also known for cooling raktadhara – (blood holding layer) – as well. Transdermally, aloe quickly reaches the liver and spleen, and cools off and detoxifies the liver.
When combining Aloe with Vetiver, the way Vaidya Mishra has done, in his Aloe-Vetiver Summer Lotion, you get a wining combination of cooling and soothing aromatic herbs ideal for use in the hot Summer days. The lotion will not only refresh but protect your skin against pitta imbalances as well, supporting it to maintain normal functioning and optimal intelligence, so the skin can also carry out its daily central task of detox through sweat.
See what the ingredients can do for you
All of Vaidya Mishra’s SVA formulations contain an “intelligent” pranic blend of specific herbs that work together to enhance each other’s actions and results in the body. Each herb carries balancing properties as well. Here is a list of what you can expect from each ingredient in this lotion:
Aloe Vera: Calms and soothes the skin through its deep cooling effect on rasa (plasma) and rakta (blood.) It is present in a highly active form.
Vetiver: carries the following ayurvedic properties - Sheeta (cooling); Snigdha (unctuous); and Sugandha (cooling aromatic). Vetiver’s properties are magnified when it is combined with Aloe.
Jojoba: is an ideal tridoshic cooling skin lubricant that blends in well to uphold the properties of Vetiver and Aloe.
Saffron: is hands-down the best ayurvedic “varnya” - skin complexion enhancer. It helps preserve skin tone and texture.
Flame of Forest: Enhances the intelligence of the skin to fight against sunlight and is also an excellent “varnya.
Devil’s Apple: Increases cellular intelligence of the skin to help our skin maintain its youthfulness against climactic and other factors.
Punarnava: Mobilizes and evacuates toxins from the udakdhara layer (water layer) of the skin.
Manjishta: Maintains skin intelligence & pacifies bhrajaka pitta – the governing factor of the skin that can get easily aggravated by overexposure to the sun.
Turmeric: Fights against inflammation of the skin created by over-exposure to sunlight
Gotu Kola: Supports collagen synthesis
Brahmi: Maintains intelligence of the skin
Nutmeg: Maintains normal skin pigmentation
Mucuna: Supports dopamine production to maintain coordination between mind and skin (prana and vyana)
Green Tea: is a great anti-oxidant for the skin. Prevents free-radicals (amavisha) that can result from overexposure to sunlight
Ashwagandha: supports the tactile nerves of the skin
Lemon: checks against excess pigmentation caused by sun exposure
Indian Sarsaparilla: acidic toxins (amavisha) released from sweat irritates the skin. Indian Sarsaparilla helps clean the sweat and the sweat glands.
Ashoka: maintains the bliss of the heart and thus helps balance bharajak pitta of the skin
Shirish bark: provides long-term slow but steady skin detoxification
Sensitive Plant: nourishes and repairs the tactile nerves from the damage arising from excess sun exposure
Neem: supports the immunity of skin
Rosemary: dilates the channels of the skin without heating things up
These ingredients are added to a synergistic base containing: White grapefruit for natural preservation; Organic Coconut for adding a cooling, nurturing, and lubricating layer; Organic Aloe Juice; and Emulsifying wax; in a base of Kosher vegetable glycerin.
This is a great lotion to apply at all times, and it can be used by all body types and skin types. Whether you are exposing yourself actively to the sun or not, go ahead and put it on, the high index of solar energy saturating the environment affects your skin health regardless of whether you are in the shade or not. You may be apply this lotion on your body as well as your face. If you already use a facial cream in the morning, you can use it as usual, and then a few hours later start applying this lotion for added coolness as temperatures rise. Apply liberally on areas of the body directly exposed to the sun.

Vaidya Mishra’s Ayurvedic expertise and knowledge has helped countless people all over the globe. We frequently still receive letters, phone calls, emails, thanking Vaidya Mishra for his vast knowledge on lifestyle, herbs, diet, and all things ayurvedic.
This Monday, on his birth-day, we are celebrating his beautiful legacy with Dr Marianne Teitelbaum.
Vaidya Ramakant Mishra was the heir and custodian of the millennia-old Shaka Vansiya Ayurveda (aka SVA) tradition, his family lineage of Ayurveda practitioners can be traced back from ancestor to ancestor to the 14th century. The Bhavishya and Skandha Purana – amongst yet other ancient texts – narrate the stories of the arrive of the Shaka Magg Brahmins to India, during the time of Lord Krishna.
Join Us in this beautiful Hour of Celebration.
Vaidya Ramakant Mishra was the heir and custodian of the millennia-old Shaka Vansiya Ayurveda (SVA) tradition, his family lineage of Ayurveda practitioners can be traced back from ancestor to ancestor to the 14th century. The Bhavishya and Skandha Purana – amongst yet other ancient texts – narrate the stories of the arrive of the Shaka Magg Brahmins to India, during the time of Lord Krishna.
Of all the blessings and gifts that our founder, Vaidya Ramakant Mishra, brought to the world in this Kali yuga of ignorance and confusion, one stands out, high, and beyond for its colossal magnitude: his unparalleled knowledge and comprehension of the science and art of Ayurveda; the understanding of life and wellbeing in communion with the energies and powers of nature in the physical and vibrational realms through the vital flow of Prana, the all nurturing, transforming, and propelling energy of manifestation.
Besides being a gifted healer of the highest rank, a formulator of unmatched skill; and a visionary innovator creator of the Transdermal Marma System; the Transmucosal Nectar drops; the EMF protocols and products; the marma-pulse assessment technique; and treatments for autism and other afflictions of our modern times; he was a tireless educator, lecturer, and researcher of unsurpassed merits.
His knowledge covered all aspects of academic Ayurveda as taught in India today plus all the “secret” science that was stripped away and suppressed for political reasons during the Buddhist Era and later colonial times, but was jealously kept alive in the inner circles of his family lineage awaiting the day when it would see the light again. He was a living library, a guardian of the ancient divine knowledge, and a man with a mission: to restore that hidden knowledge for the benefit of all humanity.
Sadly, he was the last Vaidya of his millennia-old lineage… But at Chandika.com as well as SVAyurveda.com, the companies he founded and where he lives forever in our hearts, we have taken up the torch to continue his sacred mission making sure that his legacy will reach future generations.
Join us in celebrating the preservation of his Divine Knowledge: the golden gate to radiant health, balance, and bliss.
A SVA Library At Your Fingertips?
Anyone of mature age is a witness to the vertiginous pace at which technology moves! From one generation to the next, over the past 30 plus years, movies have been watched through the medium of celluloid films, broadcasted TV, VHS tapes, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, downloads, and of late, streamed videos that we display on our tablets AND our phones! What? Videos on a phone…? Wait, my TV set is ringing; I have to take this call… But that’s not all, now you can order and wear sunshades that will connect to your phone, AND take pictures and videotape footage as well… The very next thing we can think of is all virtual projection that might materialize with a thought… We are almost there!
But you get the point, with these incessant oncoming waves of transformation and change, the video seminars of our dear Vaidya, which began to be released in DVD format just some 15 years ago, were at risk of becoming obsolete souvenirs of digital nostalgia impossible to play back. The once mighty, breakthrough technology of laser discs that wowed us at the turn of the new millennium has become a species on its way to extinction, with computers that no longer come with embedded disc drives.
Facing this inevitable situation, we, at Vaidya Mishra’s Prana center, have officially taken-on a mega-project: to convert the legacy of Vaidya Mishra into a format that will survive new unforeseeable waves of technological change and yet remain available for future generations. We are delighted to announce that we converting all of Vaidya’s timeless teachings into the latest technology that will be readily available for download and/or online viewing/streaming.
Vaidya Mishra’s legacy as an educator and trainer of new generations of SVA practitioners lives in a video and audio library of countless hours of recorded courses and live seminars. but its real value cannot be estimated in hours of playback time! So stay tuned! We will be announcing the imminent availability of countless hours of course contents and lecture titles week after week via email, as soon as they are released and posted on www.svayurveda.com.

Conditions Caused by Magnesium deficiency
Low levels of magnesium can result in many conditions, namely:
— cramping of the muscles, leading to
—heartbeat arrhythmia
— painful menstrual cycles
— calf muscle pain (“Charlie horses”)
— twitching of the eyelids
But not just that. here is a list of chronic conditions associated with low or depleted levels of magnesium:
Adrenal fatigue – adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisol deplete magnesium. Stress is a big factor for adrenal fatigue. Stress causes excess elimination of magnesium through urine
Alzheimer’s
Angina
Anxiety and Panic Attacks
Asthma
Atherosclerosis with calcium deposits.
Bowel disease
Depression
Detoxification
Diabetes
Headaches
High Blood Pressure
Hardening of the arteries
Inflammation
Osteoporosis
Magnesium is a co-factor for ATP production. ATP, created in mitochondria, is main source of energy in our cells. Magnesium is a co-factor involved in transporting hormones like adrenaline into the cells because the hormones can’t pass through the cell membranes by themselves. Turmeric:
How
NOT
To Use It!
Years ago, when we (here in the West!) discovered the amazing health benefits of Turmeric and it became (yet) a(nother) great health-food fad, Vaidya Mishra was very alarmed to see how Turmeric was being recommended and used “irresponsibly”…. He made several videos to address this phenomenon. Finally, now, we have studies that are confirming Vaidya’s teachings, and specifically the fad of consuming raw turmeric powder with large quantities of black pepper – the idea is that black pepper will help absorb turmeric which would otherwise remain inert in our bodies. This article was forwarded to us by SVAyurveda Health Educator, Elisabeth Innes – Thank You Elisabeth! You can connect with Elisabeth HERE: (www.ayurvedheals.blogspot.com)
Taking Turmeric with Black Pepper May Damage the Liver
The bright yellow spice turmeric, which is often used in Indian cooking, contains a potent nutrient called curcumin. It belongs to a group of compounds known as curcuminoids and has potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which have been linked with better joint health, cognitive function, heart health, and more.
Yet, curcumin is tough for your body to absorb and use effectively. It has poor solubility in water and is rapidly metabolized and eliminated from the body before it can be absorbed into your bloodstream, where it can exert its beneficial effects. This is why some supplement manufacturers add piperine from black pepper to curcumin to enhance its absorption.
However, experts are becoming increasingly concerned that taking turmeric with piperine can cause liver damage. In a study published in The American Journal of Medicine, researchers looked at data from participants with turmeric-related liver injuries enrolled in the US Drug-Induced Liver Injury Network, analyzing all of the turmeric supplements that those with liver disease were taking.
What the researchers found is that piperine may raise turmeric to toxic levels in some people. Seven out of the 10 participants who experienced liver injury from taking turmeric had a gene called human leukocyte antigen (HLA), specifically HLA-B*35:01. Taking turmeric with other bioavailability enhancers – such as ginger – may be a safer way to get its benefits.
The best way to consume turmeric is with a fatty medium (ghee, milk) so that it can travel to the fat tissue and be absorbed there, as well as to help balance it drying and heating properties. Use it also with other balancing and cooling spices: coriander, fennel, and also cumin. Also best to have it with food – lentils or vegetables. Or with a glass of raw freshly boiled milk. There is great wisdom and science in the ayurvedic sutras, as taught to us by Vaidya Mishra.

~ Dr M. Teitelbaum
I have seen so many women through the years who did not know that they needed to do some basic cleansing of mind, body and spirit for at least one year before conceiving a child, and as a result they suffered through difficult pregnancies and/or their babies developed all types of health problems.
When a woman is pregnant she is sharing her blood with her baby. So all the toxins she has accumulated over her lifetime from processed foods to breathing in air pollution to using skin care products with chemicals (which absorb immediately into the bloodstream directly from the skin), to all the pharmaceuticals she takes — all these toxins are stored in many of her tissues, especially the fat tissues, such as found in the brain, liver, kidneys, bone marrow and the fat cells themselves. And don’t forget the heavy metals from the air pollution, the fish you eat, the old mercury amalgam dental fillings and the heavy metals you received from your vaccinations. You even have to detox out the fluoride from the water if you were exposed to fluoridated water at any point in your life.
During the early childhood years the child gets rid of the toxins he or she acquired from their mother while in the womb by getting the early childhood diseases, such as measles, mumps, rubella and chicken pox. These diseases create rashes on the skin as these nasty toxins come out through the sweat pores of the skin, which is the largest organ of elimination. But even though it is not fun having these diseases, it is somewhat of a rite of passage which will help to develop a normal functioning immune system for the rest of their lives as they rid themselves of these old stored toxins they received from their mother.
Due to the vaccines the children get nowadays, it is quite rare that they would get even one of these diseases, which means that the children are not only holding onto the toxins they received from their mothers, but then they have the added layer of toxins acquired from their intense vaccine schedules which can disturb their immune systems, creating food allergies and sensitivities, eczema, asthma, headaches, digestive disturbance, learning disabilities and autoimmune diseases.
This makes it imperative that the mother undergo deep and profound Ayurvedic cleansing under the direction of an Ayurvedic practitioner who can monitor her through the cleansing process — some of the routines are daily, some weekly, some seasonal, and some done especially in the spring and the fall, the two best seasons to cleanse. This way the babies don’t start out their lives with such a high toxic load.
It is also important that she eats a balanced, clean and nourishing diet at least a year before conceiving, which also decreases her toxic load.
Now, toxins can be physical, as just described, and also mental. So it is important that the mother do some work mentally, emotionally and spiritually since she actually has more influence on the developing baby’s personality than the husband does.
Let me explain what I mean by that last statement.
Each parent gives up roughly half of their DNA to the child: 50% from the mother (through an egg) and 50% from the father (through his sperm). But the reason the mother has more of an influence on the child’s personality is because while she is carrying her baby she receives the vibrational information from her baby and the baby receives vibrational information from her.
This is why women will crave different types of food with each pregnancy. I remember I craved mangoes when I was pregnant with my son and grapefruit when I was pregnant with my daughter. It turns out my son loves mangoes — we took so many pictures of him eating mangoes when he was in his high chair as a baby, and my daughter to this day craves all the citrus fruits — lemons, grapefruits, and oranges.
Vaidya Mishra told me that when the women in his village were pregnant and had a desire for a food, everyone in the village would rush that food over to her, trying to meet the desires of the unborn baby, so that the baby would be born satisfied and happy.
But it works in reverse as well. The ancient text books said it was important that women avoid negativity when pregnant — which in this modern day means don’t get involved in arguments, walk away from negative situations and don’t watch scary movies while pregnant. The emotions of anger and fear can get transmitted to the baby in much the same way that the baby is sending you signals of the foods they would like.
So the year before pregnancy you should not only detoxify physically but emotionally as well. In whatever ways work best for you: using meditation, prayer, chanting, psychological counseling or therapy — try to get your mind and body in order so you can create a mentally, physically and spiritually balanced blissful baby.
The ancient doctors said even the moment of conception was extremely important that both the husband and wife were in a blissful state of mind — they went so far as to say to avoid sexual contact if there was a loud scary thunderstorm going on or bad weather, which would create fear in the minds of the potential parents and be transmitted into the developing embryo.
They said both parents should bathe, use some herbs or essential oils to create a pleasant fragrance — sprinkle some flowers on the bed, use fresh bed linens and express deep love and devotion towards your partner so that pure love is flowing at the moment of conception.
They said the best time to conceive is during the Brahma Muhurta time of day. Muhurta is a Sanskrit term or a period of time equivalent to 48 minutes; Brahma means “sacred” or “holy” and is also the name of the creator, or God. Brahma Muhurta therefore means the “time of Brahma,” or “sacred time” when it is most beneficial to practice yoga, meditate or to worship.
Roughly speaking Brahma muhurta begins 96 minutes or two muhurtas before sunrise and ends 48 minutes (one muhurta) before the sun rises. The exact time of Brahma muhurta can vary by tradition, though, with some describing it as the last 3 hours of nighttime. This is the time of day when the mind is calm and serene after a good night’s sleep and there is a preponderance of sattva or purity, not only in the mind, but in nature as well, since the elements in nature, known as Soma, Agni and Marut (the vibration from the moon, sun and the movement of these energies), collectively called Prana, are also balanced at this time.
By conceiving a baby with a clear, rested blissful mind, free of negativity after doing a year’s worth of mental, emotional and physical cleansing, balancing that with a healthy, happy and blissful pregnancy you are doing everything you can to ensure a happy, healthy well-balanced child.
I hope you found this information useful as you begin planning for a child — by following these guidelines you can not only prevent a problematic pregnancy, but you can also give your baby the best possible chance to begin life as healthy as possible, free from environmental, physical and emotional toxins and the health problems these toxins could create.
Thank you,

Did you know that…
MAGNESIUM helps with calcium levels in your body, regulates your stress hormones and adrenal glands, and plays a major role in our daily lives? Low levels of calcium are the root cause behind a wide range of clinical chronic conditions. While oral magnesium supplementation can have its down sides and side-effects, transdermal absorption of magnesium is safe and highly effective over long term.
Conditions Caused by Magnesium deficiency
Low levels of magnesium can result in many conditions, namely:
— cramping of the muscles, leading to
—heartbeat arrhythmia
— painful menstrual cycles
— calf muscle pain (“Charlie horses”)
— twitching of the eyelids
But not just that. here is a list of chronic conditions associated with low or depleted levels of magnesium:
Adrenal fatigue – adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisol deplete magnesium. Stress is a big factor for adrenal fatigue. Stress causes excess elimination of magnesium through urine
Alzheimer’s – Magnesium guards the external layer of the cells, not allowing heavy metals to enter
Angina – The pain of angina is caused by severe muscle spasm in heart muscles, is caused by magnesium deficiency. The heart ventricles have the highest levels of magnesium in the whole body, which is why magnesium is so important for the pumping function of the heart.
Anxiety and Panic Attacks – When the adrenals are no longer protected by sufficient magnesium, the flight-or-flight hormones adrenaline and noradrenalin become more easily triggered. When they surge erratically, they cause a rapid pulse, high blood pressure and heart palpitations.
Asthma – Histamine production and bronchial spasms (in the smooth muscles of the bronchial tract) both increase as a result of magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is a great broncho-dilator.
Atherosclerosis with calcium deposits. Magnesium is necessary to help dissolve calcium and keep it soluble in the bloodstream.
Depression – Serotonin, which elevates mood, is dependent on magnesium.
Detoxification – Magnesium is crucial for removal of toxins and heavy metals from the body. Magnesium is a co-factor in the production of glutathione and the function of the P450 detoxification systems in the liver.
Diabetes – Magnesium enhances insulin secretion and allows insulin to transfer glucose into the cells. Otherwise, glucose and insulin build up in the blood causing various types of tissue damage.
Headaches – Prevents muscle tension in neck and head muscles when applied locally. Also prevents spasms of the muscles in the walls of the arteries which triggers headaches.
High Blood Pressure – With low magnesium and too much calcium, the muscles in blood vessels can go into spasm and cause high blood pressure.
Hardening of the arteries – as acid toxins build up (ama visha and gar visha), they create inflammation in the wall of the arteries. If calcium is high and magnesium is low, the calcium can deposit in the arterial wall, creating hardening or plaque.
Inflammation – Calcium is extremely pro-inflammatory and magnesium is anti-inflammatory. Must keep a balance between calcium and magnesium. It is not recommended to take calcium supplements – they remain stuck in the channel, and if magnesium is low this can create inflammation and other problems like hardening of the arteries and heart attacks.
Osteoporosis – Calcium cannot build bones without magnesium. Calcium alone makes bones brittle (like chalk breaking as it hits the floor). Magnesium makes the bones flexible and resistant to shattering. Most people have too much calcium and not enough magnesium. Put a calcium supplement in a glass of water and it sits there. Add magnesium and it breaks down.
Magnesium is a co-factor for ATP production. ATP, created in mitochondria, is main source of energy in our cells. ATP must be bound to magnesium in order to be active. ATP is made in each of the 100 trillion cells in our body
For purposes of cellular detoxification and tissue purification, the most effective form of magnesium is magnesium chloride. Has a strong excretory effect on toxins stuck in the tissues of the body, drawing them out through the pores of the skin. Magnesium chloride, when applied transdermally increases DHEA. DHEA is the “mother of all hormones.” DHEA is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands and the ovaries. DHEA is converted in the body into several different steroid hormones – estrogen, testosterone and other hormones as needed
Magnesium is a required co-factor for over 800 enzyme systems in our bodies. 3,751 receptor sites for magnesium have been found on human proteins. Magnesium is a requirement for RNA and DNA production. Magnesium is a co-factor involved in transporting hormones like adrenaline into the cells because the hormones can’t pass through the cell membranes by themselves
