Conditions Caused by Magnesium deficiency
Low levels of magnesium can result in many conditions, namely:
— cramping of the muscles, leading to
—heartbeat arrhythmia
— painful menstrual cycles
— calf muscle pain (“Charlie horses”)
— twitching of the eyelids
But not just that. here is a list of chronic conditions associated with low or depleted levels of magnesium:
Adrenal fatigue – adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisol deplete magnesium. Stress is a big factor for adrenal fatigue. Stress causes excess elimination of magnesium through urine
Alzheimer’s
Angina
Anxiety and Panic Attacks
Asthma
Atherosclerosis with calcium deposits.
Bowel disease
Depression
Detoxification
Diabetes
Headaches
High Blood Pressure
Hardening of the arteries
Inflammation
Osteoporosis
Magnesium is a co-factor for ATP production. ATP, created in mitochondria, is main source of energy in our cells. Magnesium is a co-factor involved in transporting hormones like adrenaline into the cells because the hormones can’t pass through the cell membranes by themselves. Turmeric:
How
NOT
To Use It!
Years ago, when we (here in the West!) discovered the amazing health benefits of Turmeric and it became (yet) a(nother) great health-food fad, Vaidya Mishra was very alarmed to see how Turmeric was being recommended and used “irresponsibly”…. He made several videos to address this phenomenon. Finally, now, we have studies that are confirming Vaidya’s teachings, and specifically the fad of consuming raw turmeric powder with large quantities of black pepper – the idea is that black pepper will help absorb turmeric which would otherwise remain inert in our bodies. This article was forwarded to us by SVAyurveda Health Educator, Elisabeth Innes – Thank You Elisabeth! You can connect with Elisabeth HERE: (www.ayurvedheals.blogspot.com)
Taking Turmeric with Black Pepper May Damage the Liver
The bright yellow spice turmeric, which is often used in Indian cooking, contains a potent nutrient called curcumin. It belongs to a group of compounds known as curcuminoids and has potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which have been linked with better joint health, cognitive function, heart health, and more.
Yet, curcumin is tough for your body to absorb and use effectively. It has poor solubility in water and is rapidly metabolized and eliminated from the body before it can be absorbed into your bloodstream, where it can exert its beneficial effects. This is why some supplement manufacturers add piperine from black pepper to curcumin to enhance its absorption.
However, experts are becoming increasingly concerned that taking turmeric with piperine can cause liver damage. In a study published in The American Journal of Medicine, researchers looked at data from participants with turmeric-related liver injuries enrolled in the US Drug-Induced Liver Injury Network, analyzing all of the turmeric supplements that those with liver disease were taking.
What the researchers found is that piperine may raise turmeric to toxic levels in some people. Seven out of the 10 participants who experienced liver injury from taking turmeric had a gene called human leukocyte antigen (HLA), specifically HLA-B*35:01. Taking turmeric with other bioavailability enhancers – such as ginger – may be a safer way to get its benefits.
The best way to consume turmeric is with a fatty medium (ghee, milk) so that it can travel to the fat tissue and be absorbed there, as well as to help balance it drying and heating properties. Use it also with other balancing and cooling spices: coriander, fennel, and also cumin. Also best to have it with food – lentils or vegetables. Or with a glass of raw freshly boiled milk.
