Tired, Dry, Itchy Eyes? Try Triphala Ghee for the Eyes….

Detox, Nourish and Rejuvenate your Eyes

TDIE-img1The eyes are a pitta organ. The inner physiology of the eyes is governed by “Alochak pitta.” Pitta dosha is made up of fire and water. The fire element in pitta has the quality of giving light. Fire burns.   But fire gives light. Fire has the ability to transform and give light. This is why the eyes are a pitta predominant organ.

But the optic nerve and the eyelids are governed by Vata dosha, while the overall lubrication of the inside of the eyelid, and the eyeball are governed by kapha dosha. Vyana vata governs the optic nerve and eyelids, and Shleshak kapha lubricates the eyelids and eyeball. So whenever any formula for the eyes is put together, it should first be pitta pacifying: cooling. However, and at the same time, it should not be too cold so as not to aggravate Shleshaka kapaha and Vyana vata.

Vaidya Mishra’s unique SVA Triphala Ghee formula for the eyes has probiotic ghee as its primary ingredients. Ghee is cooling andTDIE-img2 lubricating, but unlike other fats, it is also “agneya” – it has enough agni or fire molecules which make it an ideal fat that does not freeze our channels like other fats.
Triphala is an ancient formula consisting of 3 fruits – “tri” for three, and “phala” for fruit. It is known for being 3 dosha pacifying. Not only that, but it also detoxes and rejuvenates. It has “shamana” or pacifying, “shodhana” or detoxifying, and “rasayana” or rejuvenating effect for all 3 body types and imbalance tendencies.

In the ayurvedic tradition, triphala has been used extensively for the eyes for both detoxification and rejuvenation. The unique combination of the 3 fruits – Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Bhibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica) and Amla (Phyllantus emblica)- has an enhanced role in this SVA formulation since it is combined with Mum’s Probiotic Ghee. The process of making this ghee adds to the medicinal properties of both  the TDIE-img3ghee and the 3 fruits: according to an ancient recipe handed over for generations in Vaidya’s SVA lineage, all the lipid soluble molecules of the fruits, along with very little water soluble molecules, are captured through a unique SVA method of preparation.

In order to ensure added pitta pacification for extreme pitta aggravation or pitta predominant people – since even Triphala may sometimes provoke high pitta – Vaidya Mishra has added rose-buds to the formula, much like his unique High Pitta Triphala capsules – for oral use only.

Why use Triphala Ghee for the eyes?

Of course, due to wear and tear, our eyes need additional care as we age. But we need to take even more care of them if we use them extensively for computer work. Long hours of exposure to electrical devices that contain more “agni,” such as computer screens, can have a drying effect on the eyes. When we use our eyes for extended periods of time, then Shleshak kapha goes out of balance or dries out. Shleshak kapha is the balancing factor for Alochak pitta and Vyana vata. Alochak pitta and Vyana vata become imbalanced when Shleshak kapha gets aggravated from over-exposure to EMF devices.

Triphala Grit or Triphala Ghee supports your eyes through helping restore Shleshak kapha, soothing and cooling Alochak pitta, and nourishing Vyana vata.

Ingredient-wise benefits:

TDIE-img4Haritaki (Terminalia chebula): the molecule of Haritaki transdermally detoxifies because of its shodhana effect. In addition, it also carries a rasayana effect that rejuvenates the eye and the muscles around the  eye area, nourishing the nerves as well. The astringent property of Haritaki pacifies the “acidity” or “high pitta” that may be accumulated in and around the eye area, binding the toxic micro-molecules.

TDIE-img5Bhibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica): is known for pacifying the “shleshma” (shleshak kapha plus ama combination). Lipid soluble micro-molecules of Bhibhitaki break down and disperse the molecules of “shleshma” so that the  Haritaki molecules can easily capture them and evacuate them.

TDIE-img6Amla (Phyllantus emblica): has a very specific “prabhava” or subtle post-digestive effect called ‘chakchushya’ – which means overall  inside-out nourishment that rejuvenates the eyes. So it’s an ideal fruit for the eyes, either orally or transdermally as in this Triphala Grit.

Rose buds carry a calming and nourishing property, specifically for pitta. They have an overall pacifying effect for the eyes, including the optic nerve.

TDIE-img7Probiotic ghee: as discussed, ghee does not only carry the ideal blend of Soma and Agni, but probiotic ghee is additionally lively, nurturing and supporting, without clogging and freezing. It is light  and supplies the benefits of the three fruits to the eye area transdermally for immediate absorption and benefit.

After a few applications of this SVA Triphala grit, with all its balancing and soothing properties, your eyes will feel relaxed and lubricated. This Triphala Ghee will enhances sleep, as it gently takes away any dryness in and around the eyelids and eye area. This is a short-term benefit. Long term benefits will be: rejuvenation and detox of your eyes and eye area.

Directions: before going to bed, take a small amount of Triphala ghee with the use of a q-tip or cotton swab and apply on and around your eyelids, eyebrows, and temple area. Use very little. After applying, spread out with your fingers, and massage in with gentle circular motion. Then close your eyes and lie down for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes wipe out all the ghee with lukewarm water cotton pads or a cotton towel. Make sure to remove all physical residues of the ghee. It is not necessary to keep any ghee left behind, as within 15 minutes of application, all micro-molecules of the ghee have already been absorbed and used up by your skin. Any residual ghee may cause toxicity by blocking your pores.

If you have a medical condition or are experiencing any eye symptoms or problems, do not use this Triphala Ghee. Check with your medical physician immediately for proper care and treatment. This product has not been evaluated by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). It is not intended to be used to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any known or unknown diseases.

Does Sleep Detox the Brain?

The latest scientific findings indicate that there is a great chemical and physical necessity for sleep, above and beyond the psychological need. The consensus is that the brain needs sleep to wash off toxins created during the day’s activity.1

How is this washing off done? Pioneering research has found that brain cells – glial cells – shrink during sleep DSDTB-img1to open up the interstitial gaps between neurons to allow fluid to flush out neurotoxins in the brain through a network of plumbing pipes – glymphatic system.

If the brain is not allowed to detox through proper sleep, toxic proteins may be formed and/or left behind. Toxic proteins play a major role in chronic brain disorders – Alzheimers, Parkinsons, dementia.

Sleep is now confirmed to not only be necessary downtime for housekeeping to flush out neurotoxins, but to contribute to its nightly restoration.

Shodhana and Rasayana

This is not news to Ayurveda. The detoxing and rejuvenative functions of sleep (“shodhana” and “rasayana”) have long been known, and the Carak Samhita Sutrasthana says that sleep (“svapn”), along with a healthy diet (“ahar”) and ethical balanced behavior (”Brahmacharya”) is one of the 3 sub-pillars of life, or “traya upastambah:”DSDTB-img2 The sutra continues to explain that with proper regular sleep the body gains “bala” or physical and mental strength; its immunity is enhanced; complexion improves; digestive and post-digestive activities are optimal; the mind gets more balance and nourishment from the physiology ; there is overall improvement in the assimilation and transformation activities on the cellular and vibrational levels.DSDTB-img3 But Ayurveda has also known, since its inception, that sleep is essential for deep multi-dimensional detox.

Daily Detox through Sleep

Our bodies are deeply attuned to the environment we live in. In modern terms, we speak of the circadian rhythm: a 24 hour biological cycle that keeps organs and organ systems running in our bodies, in relation to the environment, and particularly the the day-night cycle of 24hours. Our cellular metabolic processes respond to and are regulated by this cycle.DSDTB-img4In Ayurveda, the daily biological rhythm of the body is discussed in relation to dinacharya and ratricharya: day-time and night-time protocols respectively. The understanding of daily metabolic cycles in Ayurveda also relates to light, but goes beyond as well.

In Ayureda, different portions of the day are said to carry distinct properties that affect our physiological activities in different ways. The day is structured in portions that carry more or less of the 3 cosmic energies that make up everything under the sun. In Vaidya Mishra’s lineage these 3 cosmic energies are emphasized as key players for understanding and managing health. They are: Soma, Agni, and Marut.

  • Soma: the creational principle of support and sustenance best symbolized by the Moon or lunar energy
  • Agni: the principle of transformation best exemplified by solar energy
  • Marut: best exemplified by space and air, this is the principle of movement

SV Ayurveda structures the day in sequential portions that carry more or less properties of Soma, Agni, or Marut. This is translated as theDSDTB-img2 tendency to have or accumulate more or less imbalances of Kapha, Pitta, or Vata during a given day. This is how an ayurvedic day looks like:

  • early morning, from 6am to 10am is more soma, it is kapha time
  • from 10am to 2pm is agni predominant when the sun’s effect is highest on our physiology, and that is pitta time
  • from 2pm to 6pm is more marut predominant, and that is vata time

The 24 hour day cycle is divided into mirror parts, but they oscillate between rest and activity. 12 hours of activity vs 12 hours of rest – this includes a couple of hours prepping up for and then coming off of high activity or deep rest. An ideal day is balanced between the 2 strokes of rest and activity.

While the early morning soma time from 6-10am is necessary to rev up the body to accomplish the day’s activities, the evening soma time extending from 6-10pm is to be used to calm it back down, unwind it, and ground it, prepping it for deep rejuvenative sleep.

When the evening time is properly used to calm down the nervous system, giving rest to the organs and organ systems, then the ensuing Agni predominant portion from 10pm to 2am, will be successful in performing its task of detox and transformation.

Ideally, our days are meant to be structured to alternate between rest and activity. During the day, when the sun has risen, our minds get engaged in our senses, our bodies become busy carrying out activities, our brains are fully aligned with our dynamic senses.

When the day wanes, if our awareness is attuned to Nature’s rhythm, our fatigued physical body and brain will understand that it is time to shift gears and ready the body for sleep. The sutra says:DSDTB-img5 When “manas” or the mind gets “klante,” fatigued, from activity or“karma,” enjoying the objects or “visyayebho” of the senses, then it wants to release itself (“nivartante”) of those objects by going into sleep or “svapiti.” This is the definition of sleep according to Ayurveda.

Sleep through the Night

But sometimes sleep can be the most elusive thing. No matter how tired we feel and want to sleep, we are not able to wind down, fall asleep, nor stay asleep. There are different ways to correct sleep imbalances, based on external and internal factors.

DSDTB-img5Sleeplessness occurs when the brain is unable to disconnect from the activities of the senses. When the brain remains engaged in the objects of the senses – something that happened during the day – either extremely exciting or stressful; a task that was unfinished; an emotional charge that remains unprocessed; a stressful thought that won’t leave you. Your mind keeps running the episode over and over again. Due to different hetu-s or original causes, people are not able to disconnect or detach their minds from their senses, and then sleep eludes us. There is not one way to correct a sleep imbalance, because there is not one reason that may cause insomnia. In SVA, Vaidya mishra insists on following the “hetu ling aushadi gyanam” principle: first investigate and isolate the actual cause of the sleeplessness to be able to correct it fully and effectively.

In this sense, based on one’s physiology, there can be 3 distinct ways of approaching problems in sleep, each is based on one of the 3 cosmic energies, Soma, Agni, Marut, that get reduced to imbalances in our physiologies as Kapha, Pitta, and Vata, based on our body’s preference to receive more or less of each energy.

In general, it is good to turn down the lights, reduce the use of TV and computer, and do gentle yogic exercise or meditation to ease the body into the rest period of the day. But here are specific guidelines for those who need a little more pacification.

Vata

Sleeplessness that is caused by too much Vata, or air and space accumulation, can result from:

  • the overuse of EMF devices such as computers, cellphones, etc.
  • from eating or drinking too much dry or drying foods or drinks (snacks, caffeinated drinks);
  • from skipping meals or not eating enough, or eating on the go;
  • eating too much pungent and spicy meals;
  • over-engaging in physical or mental labor without taking proper breaks;
  • travelling for long hours (flying, driving too much) without a break to recover and reset the body

In this case, the mind gets overwhelmed, it needs a nourishing nurturing break to relax and recover, so that it can detach itself from the senses in order to be able to fall asleep.

Sometimes, even if one falls asleep, they wake up fatigued and foggy – sleep is scattered and not grounded enough. In this case, one should adopt one or more of the following steps:

  • proper vata pacifying foods that are more unctuous and grounding in nature;
  • DSDTB-img7may drink a milk date shake before sleep (boil milk with a couple cardamompods, a stick of cinnamon; take off the heat, pour into a blender and add 1-2 pitted medjool dates and blend. Drink warm before bed).
  • do self-massage with SVA Vata oil with Vit D and Magnesium;
  • Drink Soma Nidra Tea half an hour before sleep;
  • Use the Soma Nidra Oral spray
  • Shower with Soma Nidra Soap;
  • Take a bath with Soma Nidra Sleep Pouches
  • Apply Soma Nidra Aroma oil blend on your wrists and behind your ear lobes, or put a couple of drops in an aroma diffuser to release the aroma in your room during your sleep
  • Apply Mastishk Shamana transdermal cream on your lower spine.

PITTA

All of the above Vata pacifying recommendations can be done to help with sleep by an individual of any constitution, but sometimes things need to be addressed specifically for Pitta problems. Pitta imbalance prone individuals may experience lack of sleep primarily due to food related imbalances. If they do not eat a proper meal that has high protein content, their fiery high metabolism will not settle down enough to allow soma to ground them in deep rejuvenative sleep. They will wake up during high pitta time, between 12am and 2am, restless,DSDTB-img8 emotionally strung, and unless they pacify their pachak or digestive pitta with a sweet juicy pear, they will not be able to fall back asleep. Not addressing pachak pitta or digestion and trying to fall back asleep through transdermal, transmucosal, aromatherapeutic, or yogic means will fail to work for a high pitta individual!

High Pitta individual must also make every effort to go to bed no later than 10pm, as they will receive second wave when pitta time kicks in, making them prone to engage in creative activities instead of allowing the physiology to rest and detox. As the night ages, it will become harder for them to fall asleep, accumulating more pitta, and resulting in pitta related imbalances – mood swings, excess heat in mind and body that can result in imbalances in different ways.

Pitta organs become more active during pitta time: liver, spleen andDSDTB-img6 pancreas. During the night shift of Pitta, these organs’ activity amounts to detox and transformation of the whole body, including the brain.

If the person is in a sleeping state between 10pm to 2am, then transformation based detox and rejuvenation is not impaired, waste products go into proper detox pathways and the outcome is the body’s nourishing nurturing substance known as Ojas. The shastras or ayurvedic texts highlight that proper sleep produces Ojas as well as toxin-free cellular system.

If pitta types consume alcohol or meals that are high in spices as well as pungent, their physical brain will need an extra-boost of Soma to reset itself. Soma is the raw material for neurotransmitters. When there is not enough soma, the brain starves and it becomes difficult for it to get disconnected from the horses or the senses, resulting in poor sleeping patterns. What to do?

  • Eat protein rich light meals before sleep
  • Consume some Rose petal preserve with dinner
  • Have more squashes during the day or for dinner
  • Drink the milk/date shake
  • Make a cup of Soma nidra tea.
  • Apply DGL transdermal cream on your liver and stomach area, gently massaging
  • Take a shower with Soma Nidra soap
  • Give yourself a gentle calming massage with Pitta oil with Magnesium
  • Laugh every day!

KAPHA

Lack of sleep related to kapha imbalance can result from eating heavy clogging meals; not having enough exercise; consuming yogurt at night; sleeping during the day. In all these instances, the physical channelsDSDTB-img10 between mind and body get clogged, and the mind cannot communicate properly with the senses, making it difficult to disconnect the senses and mind.

If you are prone to kapha imbalance – your body tends to have a slower metabolism and accumulate more Soma – you can balance things by:

  • Incorporate daily exercise into your life
  • Eat spice rich food for lunch and dinner – you may also add fresh ginger and thai green chilies if your pitta is not off
  • Apply SuperSport roll-on or cream on arms legs as well as your lower spine morning and evening
  • Use Soma Nidra oral spray – 2-3 squirts before bed
  • Drink a cup of Soma Nidra Tea or use any of the other Soma Nidra products to help induce sound sleep, however, all these will work best when you incorporate exercise and balanced meals into your routine
  • most important is to make sure you do not sleep beyond 6am as that will accumulate more Soma in your physiology resulting in more clogged channels

Sometimes, you may need to pacify both pitta and vata, or pitta and kapha. You will learn to understand the signal that your physiology is giving you as ayurvedic knowledge unfolds in your awareness once you invite it to be part of your routine.

Wishing you blissful sweet nights…

SVA Vata Abhyanga Oil with Magnesium and Vit D
Price: $24.50

Magnesium and Vitamin D3 are absorbed transdermally throught his formula. Both of these have been shown to cause toxicity if too much is taken orally. Almost everyone is deficient in Magnesium; this deficiency is a common precursor of vata aggravation. A lack of Vitamin D can cause all five of the subdoshas of vata to become aggravated and out of balance, so it is naturally an important part of the protocol for pacifying vata.

Organic Mung and Kulthi Vadi-s

“In order for our daily diet to be balanced, it must contain a share of protein,” says Vaidya Mishra. SVA recommends using either, or both, vegetarian or animal sourced protein – depending on individual needs.

Here is a quick, easy, nutritious way to introduce protein from lentils to your diet with “vadi” – pronounced “ba-ree!” A vadi is a “lentil dumpling” popular in North India. It adds a unique texture and flavor to any meal or as a stand-alone. It is light yet highly nutritious in content.

Vit B12 is essential for life and health as it plays a key role for the normal functioning of our brain, nervous system, the formation of our blood, cardiovascular health, the metabolism of our cells, DNA synthesis and regulation, as well as fatty acid synthesis.

We may all be deficient in B12, as deficiency is caused as much or more by poor absorption as it is by low intake. Vitamin B12 deficiency can result in permanent brain damage, nerve damage, depression, hearing loss, etc.

Vit B12 deficiency can be prevented. If you are a strict vegetarian or vegan, remember to eat breads, cereals, or other grains that have been fortified with vitamin B12. Or you can supplement orally or transdermally. The transdermal route is much more effective, as it is easier to absorb and use for the body.

Confidence, “Celestial Radiance Cream,” and the Planets….

“Dear Vaidya Mishra: A couple of months ago, a friend gifted me your SVA Face-lift DVD along with all related products, including your most divine Lalita’s Celestial Radiance cream. I watched the DVD and have been doing the facial self-marma protocol since then along with your products and I must say I am pleased with the results! Friends are asking me what I have done, whether I got a surgical face-lift, or what creams I am using… You have to understand that I am a 50+ professional woman and my years show, or used to show should I say, on my face! But ever since I started to do the SVA Facial Marma with the Celestial Radiance cream, not only has my skin improved with firmness and glow, but something more than skin-deep seems to have shifted. I am calmer, more confident, and I feel I communicate and convey my thoughts better. This is why I am writing: I want to know if it is actually possible, and iflalitasfacialcream so, how is it that your Celestial Radiance cream seems to work not only on the physical level of my skin but has also helped increase my levels of confidence during my workshops and speeches – I am a motivational life-coach. I really feel that an abundance of wisdom is flowing through me much more readily, and being imparted to my audience with greater ease. I tested things on my own and noticed that on days I did not use the marma protocol and the Celestial Radiance cream, things were ok, but on days when I did, things went with greater ease. What’s in your Celestial Radiance cream that might have this kind of effect? Vaidya Mishra please enlighten me!

Elisabeth P.”

Dear Elisabeth: in our SVA tradition, whether it is skin care, body care, organ care, or any other level that needs attention, we make sure that 4 aspects of health are always addressed. These 4 aspects are: 1) physical, 2) mental, 3) emotional, and 4) spiritual.

In the context of beauty, this translates more specifically into a verse that says:L-img3In other terms: beauty is considered complete when all the molecules or parts of the body are made to be auspicious. What does this mean and what does auspiciousness have to do with beauty?

The answer lies in the first part of the verse that talks about 3 pillars:

  • rupam – or the physical aspect of beauty that we gather through the use of our senses, this concerns the structure, and physical properties of one’s skin and other physical attributes;
  • gunam – this is the interal property or “guna” of the soul, or the “light of the soul” that is not visible through the senses but radiates through the skin and thus becomes visible to the eye. This happens, as the SVA lineage explains, when body, mind, heart, and spirit/soul are all connected and working together in harmony, not fighting each other.
  • Vyastyag – this pillar lists the knowledge of herbs, of a balanced lifestyle and diet, and other factors that can arrest chronological aging, that can defy aging, so an individual can be beautiful inside and out – beyond their age.

So when I formulate a skin care product, I keep this structure in my mind. For example, I use specific herbs that address  the specific function and structure of the skin – the skin on your cheeks is unlike  the skin on your elbows, each has different  levels of exposure to light and other factors, and hence distinct needs. By taking these points into consideration, I address the first pillar, or the “rup” of the skin.

Then to address the second pillar, or “gun,” I always use specific herbs that enhance the communication between mind, heart, and soul. When there is blissful coordination between mind and the light of your soul, as well as your heart, you will will experience it as an inner sense of power and confidence. Any words you utter will come from that level, and will have great impact on your audience.

Rest assured that you are not the only one who has testified to experiencing similar growth of inner peace and confidence after using the Celestial Radiance cream, and this is because, in addition to the synergy of herbs that I use in the cream, and the fact that you are applying them on marma points, you are harnessing the power of the 9 planets.L-img4

As you know, the Lalita’s Celestial Radiance cream in infused with the vibrational intelligence of the 9 gems that represent the 9 planets. Jyotish, or the ancience vedic science of light, explains that our individualities are the result of our past karmic actions, and the map that shows the benefits and set-backs dictated by our karmic past is found in the alignment of the planets at our birth. Lalita’s Celestial Radiance cream is formulated to give you a balanced tonic that can support the weaker planets that you may have in your chart, while it pacifies the malefic planets that may be aggravated in your chart. In this way, through the use of the Celestial Radiance cream, you can boost the “guna” pillar of beauty by strengthening or neutralizing things from within. The Veda-s clearly state that while we have freedom of choice as human individuals to make the right ethical decisions, the planets can sometimes cast their shadows on our mind to distract and divert us from the right decisions. Shielding ourselves from vibrational negativity through the use of gems and other remedial measures is an ancient science, and Lalita’s Celestial Radiancemakes that science available for all those who want to apply the cream, especially on the marma points, to make for a more powerful delivery.

The third pillar of beauty is “vayastyag” as noted. It is my duty, as a SVA formulator, to include in all my formulations, an herbal synergy as well as blend of aromatic molecules that will carry age-defying properties and result in visible changes with regular long-term use. Not only the ancient ayurvedic texts, but modern science also confirms the age-defying properties of hundreds of herbs and plants. When put together, as long as they are pranically preserved, and used on a regular daily basis, one can only reap benefits.

L-img5For example, many flowers, including jasmine, are reputed for carrying the property that helps keep all the layers of the skin snugly attached to each other resulting in beautiful firm skin. Other plants, such as Sensitive Plant, nurture the tactile nerves. Yet others support the lubricants in our skin to maintain optimal levels if hydration. While others ensure the flow of pranic energy, that connects our external organs and the skin to our inner spirit and soul.

Last but not least, when you apply this cream, on the marma points, you are applying and touching the “gateway of the light of the soul,” because marmas are junction points for all 3 cosmic pranic energies, Soma, Agni, and Marut. Each marma point converses with the “light of the soul” or “satwa.” By gently re-awakening each marma point to enhance the flow and circulation of pranic energy, you are enhancing the communication between your mind, senses, and their connection to the light of your soul. You are infusing more prana into your physiology, and grounding yourself. This inevitably improves the mental properties of Dhi, Dritti, and Smritti (power to gather, store, and recall), which has a direct impact on speech, hearing, and all the sense, including intuition…L-img6

Daily and Weekly Lalita Facial Protocols

L-img7Enhance beauty from the inside out with daily Lalita protocols.

4 Easy morning steps:

  • In the mornings, do a quick cleanse with Lalita’s Prebiotic (you may also use the regular) facial cleanser
  • Then apply the CreamClay, leave it on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse off with warm water and dry your face
  • Apply Lalita’s Skin Toner, spread with the finger tips and gently massage, wipe off any residual drops
  • Apply Lalita’s Age-Defying cream, or Celestial Radiance cream – if you have allotted time then it is best to do a facial marma massage with your cream, then spread out the cream from the points onto the rest of your face.

3 Easy Step for Night Protocol:

  • At night before bed, clean your face from the residue of the day with Lalita’s Facial cleanser (use the Prebiotic cleanser to replenish your skin).
  • Apply the toner, gently massage and spread and dry.
  • Apply Lalita’s cream – a) if your skin is dry and tender, use Lalita’s Facial oil – do a marma massage if you have time for calming your mind at the end of your day; b) if your skin is not too dry, use Lalita’s Probiotic Facial Cream to replenish the friendly bacteria and ready your skin for another morning.

L-img8Lalita’s daily protocol helps clean, nourish, and replenish your skin so it can stand the test of daily stressors – climate, mental and emotional stress, imbalanced diet, etc. The Lalita’s CreamClays are designed specially to cleanse the  dead skin, pulling out and absorbing the toxins into the clay base, but without drying your skin. The CreamClays will not deplete your skin of their essential nutrients and essential fats. They will, instead, nourish it and replenish it with herbs and essential oils, as well as coral calcium.

When you spray the toner on, it will help restore the pores to their original size naturally, hydrating them along the way.

The cream of your choice for daily application, whether it is Lalita’s Age-defying cream, or Lalita’s Face-Lift Cream, or Lalita’s Probiotic Cream, or Lalita’s Celestial LalitasFaceliftCreamRadiance cream will nourish either the aqueous or lipid areas of your skin’s cells. If you skin is extremely dry and you live in high altitude and very cold climate, it is best to use the lipid-based Face-Lift cream, otherwise any of the other water-soluble creams are great.

At night, you may find that after a long day of having your face exposed to environmental toxins, EMF as well as other stressors, it may feel unusually dry. That’s why Vaidya Mishra recommends that at night, after cleaning your face with the cleanser, you apply either the Lalita’s Facial Oil or the Face‐lift cream. This will address your skin’s daily need in its totality.

Lalita’s Weekend Deeper Detox and Rejuvenation Protocol

Whether you follow a daily skin care regimen or not, it is nice to pamper yourself at least once a week for a deeper detox and deeper nourishment session.

Start on Friday night

  • Clean your face with Lalita’s Prebiotic CreamClay, leave on for 5-10 minutes, then wash off. Make sure you add more CreamClay on and around the nostrils, between the eyebrows, and the chin area, as these areas secrete more lipids and more lipid soluble toxins.
  • Apply a thin layer of either Lalita’s Facial oil, or Face-Lift cream. We are using the lipid-based products to oleate the skin so that the lipid molecules can bind the toxic molecules of the facial skin.
  • In the morning, use the SVA Facial steaming pack – directions are included on the label. Be careful not to burn your skin, keep a distance from the steaming bowl. Steam for 8-10 minutes with a cover around your head. The steam process will help you totally eliminate any toxins that were mobilized the the night before.
  • Apply a little thicker layer of toner and gently massage in.
  • Apply Lalita’s Pro-biotic cream which will replenish the friendly bacteria of your skin, along with all the benefits of herbs and essential oils that it carries – just like the Age-defying cream.

On Saturday night, do a quick cleanse with the Prebiotic Cleanser, wash off and apply the Pro-biotic cream.

Once a week

On Sundays, or any day of your choice when you feel you can “let your hair down,” give total rest to your skin – this means: no cleansing. Just apply the cream of your choice, Lalita’s Age-defying cream, or Celestial Radiance, or Probiotic Cream, or

L-img10Face-Lift Cream. Massage gently in, with or without marma points, and let it seep in.

The Lalita’s products are free from any synthetic preservatives, scents, colors, fixatives, to make sure that they do not cause any short or long term toxicity, and do not disturb the vibrational communication between the body and the light of the soul.

Winter Itch!

Does the onset of seasonal cold weather bring you dry itchy skin? Do you feel overall dryness and flakiness? Or experience a burning itch and rash? Have you tried to keep your skin moisturized in the colder months of the year, but to no avail?

Based on our body’s natural tendency towards imbalance or dosha (vata, pitta, or kapha), you may experience dry itchy skin for different reasons and in different ways. Vaidya MishraWI-img1

responds to a couple of questions on dry itchy skin, and he elaborates further to give us a full understanding so we can self-manage symptoms as they arise, through SV Ayurveda, before they turn into chronic conditions that can be more challenging to address and correct.

“Dear Vaidya: I am an ayurvedic practitioner – I am 62 years old – who has studied ayurveda in India as well as the US. Last year a friend forwarded me your  newsletter and since then I have been so happy to discover that I can understand already familiar ayurvedic concepts I had already studied in a deeper as well as more practical light. I truly appreciate your SV take on Ayurveda and I am particularly fond of your firm stand on always taking into consideration the whole picture, “satya sampurn gyan” and not just getting side-tracked by one facet or detail, where one gets lost in treating symptoms. In general, I follow Ayurvedic guidelines and I am very good at keeping a good diet and routine. However, last week, I ate some ChineseWI-img2 food and that same night I developed a rash on both my legs, and it was terribly itchy. I had your Aswhagandha with Magnesium Oil at hand, so I applied it thinking it would help, unfortunately it did not help. I am writing because I would like to know why I had the itch, and why the Aswhagandha with Magnesium oil did not help. And what I should/could have done for help in this kind of situation. Thank you for reading my question, Catherine S.”

Dear Catherine: I am very happy that you like the perspective of “satya sampurn gyan” or the idea that “knowledge cannot be truthful when it is incomplete.” In response to your question, I would like to give you the whole picture, a teaching based on SV Ayurveda. Did you know that the ayurvedic study of skin conditions, in modern terms dermatology, is the most extensive in Ayurveda? More so than in any other tradition in the world? Itch in ayurveda is known as “kandu.” In the SV Ayurveda perspective, we opt for the “tri-sutra” approach. Mainstream modern day Ayurveda derives from “tri-sutra” Ayurveda, albeit forgetting it.

In short, a “tri-sutra” approach means you stop to consider the etiological factor or the origin, the cause of what has caused the symptom, instead of addressing the symptom. This can be very crucial because identical symptoms can have completely different root causes that call for completely opposing lines of treatments. Unless we identify the “hetu” or the cause, we will misdiagnose and mistreat, causing more aggravation and imbalance.

Tri-sutra ayurveda is contained, in a nutshell, in the verses: “hetu ling aushadh gyanam,” and “swasthatur parayanam.” The first step is to isolate the etiological factor for that specific person and specific symptom, and then draw the line of treatment.

So let us discuss your situation. Since you yourself mention that your rash appeared the same evening you had Chinese food for dinner, means you are somewhat awere that there may be a connection between the food you consumed and theWI-img3 rash that ensued. In this sense, the “hetu,” or etiological factor of your itch could have been any of the following:

  • Industrial unnatural salt
  • MSG
  • Synthetic vinegar
  • Unhealthy processed oil
  • Other food colorings or flavorings that are known to be allergic

Either way, your food contained ingredients that aggravated your “pachak” and “ranjak pitta” – the pitta in your stomach and in your liver. Which, eventually, aggravated your “bhrajak pitta” or the pitta in your skin, and that resulted in the rash. This means that you had a pitta predominant skin rash or itch. In other terms, a pitta predominant “kandu.”

Pitta kandu

Let me explain the pathogenesis or “samprapti” further. Aggravated “bhrajak pitta” or the pitta in your skin burned off the “shleshak kapha” of your skin, so that the “vyana vata” of the skin lost its balancing factor, “shleshak kapha” and your ras and itch emerged.

WI-img4But at the origin was “bhrajak pitta.” A common feature of pitta predominant rash is: it burns when you itch it. The SVA Aswhagandha oil is not recommended for pitta aggravations, that’s why although it’s an oil and it has magnesium in it, it contains Aswhagandha which can be pitta aggravating. That is why it would not soothe your rash. It would have been ideal to apply the SVA Pitta oil with Magnesium which would have pacified your itch.

 Aushadhi Gyanam

Now, to address your rash, what can you do? First thing I would recommend is to apply the Lalita’s Prebiotic CreamClay on affected areas before shower. Why? Because an aggravated “bhrajak pitta” can kill the friendly bacteria of your skin, so I recommend you apply the Prebiotic body clay on the affected areas, leave it one for 10-12 minutes, then wash it off in the shower, and then apply Lalita’s Probiotic cream for the body.WI-img5 Using the creamclay and the probiotic cream, you are not only addressing your “bhrajak pitta” but you are also doing more: pulling out the toxins with the clay, exfoliating the toxins, then with the prebiotic cream you are establishing a good environment for the skin where friendly bacteria can grow, and then you are nourishing and feeding your skin by applying the probiotic cream the replenishes the friendly bacteria. This is a full and complete protocol.

I would like to also mention more possible hetu-s or etiological factors for pitta predominant “kandu” that you can steer clear of:

  • synthetic lime juice
  • excessive use of sour tamarind
  • skipping or delaying meals
  • consuming hard liquor or alcohol
  • eating pungent foods and specially red chilies
  • consuming hing or asafetida
  • foods with synthetic additives – colors and preservatives
  • decomposed left-over food
  • coffee

In general, you should steer clear of pitta provoking foods and behavior. Laugh often. Take things lightly, remember that nothing and nobody is perfect, and perfection is an on-going process of growth, not an accomplished state. Follow a pitta pacifying diet using SVA Pitta Masala or spices, use SVA Pitta Tea twice a day, etc. Surround yourself with the aroma-s of rose and jasmine – soothing, cooling, and uplifting.

This was a pitta dosha related kandu or rash situation. What about Vata and Kapha? I would like, for your our readers, to explain vata and kapha related skin rashes

Vata Kandu

In Vata predominant rashes, the etiological factor is related to dryness: additional dryness in the environment due to the season’s cold windy weather (usually Autumn); or dryness related to diet; lack of good fat in the diet; late night sleep patterns; high altitude, etc. When one gets a “vata kandu,” the rash will itch creating desire to itch further but without the sensation of heat and burning.

WI-img6Samprapti” or the circle of pathogenesis cause and effect that keep augmenting each other: vata aggravating environmental, dietary, or lifestyle factors aggravate “vyana vata” or the vata factor that circulates nutrition and lubrication. The skin is the first to get affected by an aggravation of “vyana vata” because it is a barrier between the environment and the body. In addition, in the presence of cold weather, the microcirculatory channels shrink, so the skin receives less nourishment internally from within the body due to shrunk channels. This results in a lessening of the balancing factor of the skin, or “shleshak kapha,” resulting in more “vyana vata” imbalance, because “shleshak kapha” grounds “vyana vata.” This is when the rash or the itch kicks in.

Aushadhi gyanam or therapeutics: apply Vata Massage Oil with Magnesium and Vit D. This will help pacify Vata right away as it contains vata pacifying herbs. Vata will also be pacified as it gets nourished transdermally and externally through touch and the application of the oil that contains Vit D and Magnesium. In addition, add vata pacifying foods to your diet that are primarily nurturing and lubricating: such as ghee, olive oil. Avoid drying foods such as chips, pop corn, cold foods, salads, etc. Go to bed on time, and sleep in a soothing quiet environment free from EMF devices, with good circulation of air, yet warm. Stay rehydrated – make the rehydration drink (lime, water, a pinch of toasted cumin seeds, a pinch of Soma Salt, sugar to taste, 2-3 leaves of fresh mint). Always keep your extremities (hands and feet) warm, by covering them. Enhance blood flow for added thermogenesis by improving your circulatory channel by using SuperSport roll-on or transdermal cream morning and evening. Keep yourself as well as your home and car, as nothing aggravates vata like cold weather!

Another thing that is important to do is to nourish the environment of the skin, using prebiotic and probiotic bacteria, to help reverse the aging of the skin. Using products that re-establish the friendly bacteria in your skin will not only pacify vata externally but internally as well. apply the Prebiotic body clay on the affected areas, leave it one for 10-12 minutes, then wash it off in the shower, and then apply Lalita’s Probiotic cream for the body. The cream will nourish the starved friendly bacteria for your skin, and keep the skin environment healthy, reducing the occurrence of dryness and rashes.

Kapha kandu

For kapha predominant individuals, eating kaphaaggravating foods that are heavy and clogging such as yogurt, avocadoes; or eating too much of the sweet taste (rice, sugar, milk, etc), or using bad fat or too much fat; or napping during the day or sleeping after sunrise; or leading a sedentary life with no or not enough exercise; all these are factors that will imbalance the kapha body type and may result in skin imbalances.

Samprapti or the “how it happens:” kapha aggravating diet and lifestyle will aggravate the shleshak kapha of the skin which will disturb the timely and effective evacuation and release of toxins – as weWI-img7 know, our skin is the largest detox organ.

Kapha kandu symptoms of rash and itch will manifest as a deep desire to itch, without necessarily and external visible markers such as dryness, or redness, heat, or the sensation of burning.

Aushad gyanam or addressing your skin imbalance: use the SVA Detox Oil, warm it and apply a small amount on the affected area, massage in gently, leave on for 10-15 minutes. Then apply the Prebiotic body CreamClay. This will pull out the toxins that are stuck there pacifying “shleshak kapha,.” Leave the creamclay on for 20 minutes, then rinse it off, and apply the SVA Mahasurya Shanti cream. In addition to this local application, maintain a kapha pacifying diet and routine, and don’t forget to exercise to help keep toxins moving out. Incorporate SVA Shroto Shudhi Masala and Shroto Shudhi Tea into your diet.

Keep in mind

That regardless of your body type or condition of your skin imbalance, eating proper protein is necessary – light and easy to digest protein, such as fresh paneer if your lacto-vegetarian, or free-range organic chicken and fish, cooked with spices. Timely and sufficient intake of protein helps keep all doshas and types in balance, and supplies nourishment to help re-instate balance faster and more easily.

Herbal Memory Nectar Drops

WI-img8The Herbal Memory Nectar Drops will supply deep tissue intelligence to reset your body’s own defense and balance systems to take of your rash effectively when you maintain the guidelines for each body type. You do not need to wait to develop a rash or an itch, you can incorporate the guidelines and the drops, based on your body’s doshic inclination, to keep things running smoothly during the colder weather months.

Use the following formula, add 2 drops of each in 1 liter of water:

  • Turmeric drop
  • Allergy Formula 2 drops
  • Daru Haridra 2 drops
  • Yasad – Zinc – 2 drops

Caution: if your skin condition is related to a medical condition such as diabetes, kidney disease, or any other auto-immune medical condition (eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, etc), check with your medical physician before using any herbs or incorporating any alternative ayurvedic or SVA protocol.

“Dear Vaidya Mishra: I am a 42 year old Caucasian female. I’ve recently gained a lot of weight (20lbs in 3 months). Because of stress I kept a bad diet over the past 6 months that resulted in excessive sudden weight gain. I’ve been trying to lose the weight by eating more spices in my food and reducing ghee. But now that the weather has turned cold, I’ve noticed that I have excessive dryness in my skin, for example my fingertips feel almost cracked and they have a very rough feeling. But in addition, last week, I came home from work, very stressed out, and my entire legs, ankles, knees, thighs were almost on fire, with a deep itch. I know this must have something to do with my reducing the ghee and increasing the spices, but what can I do to help me lose weight without getting more dry skin and itching and skin rashes?”

In gratitude, Marlena Z.

Looks like you have kapha predominant body and kapha predominant itch. First, try to stop all kapha aggravating food and behavior and (re)introduce good healthy fat like ghee and olive oil into your diet. Increase the amount of turmeric toasted in ghee, and add to your meals. Do regular daily exercise. Add drumsticks, fenugreek leaves, karela, and white daikon radish with green chili and ginger. Avoid white sugar and pastries. Stress definitely plays a major role. Make the following tea:

  • 1 tablespoon dry toasted coriander
  • 1 tablespoon raw coriander
  • Add ¼ tsp black fresh ground peppercorns
  • 2 green cardamom pods

Bring this mixture to a boil, filter, then add 6 fresh leaves peppermint. You can drink this 2-3 times a day.

Then, you have to unclog your channels eliminate the toxins that are coming out through your skin and causing the rash. The tea will help you with that, but you may also add Shroto Shudhi Masala and Shroto Shudhi Tea to your daily routine, rotating with MedAgni Masala. Also, incorproate Garcinia Cambogia Chutney into your diet – ¼ to ½ tsp with your meals. Meditate twice a day to reduce stress. Give yourself a 10-15 minute break in-between tasks.

Another thing that will help you is dry massage. Rub your limbs (arms and legs) with raw silk gloves, particularly on the areas where fat is deposited. This will help with circulation. On the itchy areas, below the waist, apply the SVA Detox oil, leave it on for 10 minutes, then apply the Lalita’s Prebiotic CreamClay for the skin, leave it on for 20 minutes, rinse it off, then apply the Surya Shanti cream and leave it on.
