Vaidya Mishra’s NEW Prana Center – Images and News

This is the “raw” space for Vaidya’s new Prana Center.
setting up for puja
The above  picture was taken on
February 3, 2017, shortly after signing the lease, and before any construction was initiated.
After signing the lease, Vaidya and I did a puja there, chanting purifying verses for new beginnings.
This new Prana Center is what Vaidya had been working hard for over the past many many years. It was his dream space. It is my duty, as his devotee and wife, as well as all of ours as SVA followers, experts, lovers, to keep his dream going strong.

Vaidya and I had already initiated construction work in February and started setting up the space to be used for all the needs of SVA. Building sterile lab space for his ongoing (R&D) research and development,

Vaidya and Jerry Jarvis visiting his SVA lab on March 20_ 2017
in addition to plans for a customer care center for services and order fulfillments. There is also meant to be a space for courses, lecture, SVA community events, that can hold up to 75 people.
All your donations will go into continuing and completing the building and set up of this new space. We will have a grand inauguration when work is completed. But it all depends on you. We will only be able to build and complete to the extent that we can raise the remaining needed funds.
If you already donated, we THANK YOU wholeheartedly. If you have not donated yet, please do so – every dollar we receive counts. If you prefer to send a check, you may make it out to Chandi LLC and mail it to 11856 Balboa Blvd #333, Granada Hills, CA 91344.

If you know of others who would be interested in helping us build Vaidya’s dream SVA Center, please forward this email or the donation link.

I look forward to organizing many upcoming events, and offering full SVA services at the new Prana Center. Together, we can do it.
Thank you, once more, for your support of The Prana Center, SVAyurveda, and Vaidya’s legacy.

Fundraiser for Vaidya’s new Prana Center

Our beloved Vaidya left us on April 13, 2017. Since then, there’s been an inpouring of love from coast to coast, and the whole world, to share in the grief, but also in an effort to join forces so as to keep all things SVA going strong into the future. Now, more than ever, we need his beautiful and powerful legacy  of SVAyurveda to stay and keep going strong. At the time of his passing, the Prana Center was in the middle of a big move.  Efforts were halted, but I have promised to keep this move and his projects going. Vaidya wanted to consolidate his  separate locations for packaging, shipping and fulfillment, and offices, and merge all into one large warehouse building that will be multi-purposed.

To both honor and continue Vaidy’s lineage, I have the goal of making this new Prana Center a gathering place for all things SVAyurveda – just like he intended it. This is where you will be able to drop by to pick up his exquisite formulations as well as have consultations with SVAyurveda doctors, get SVAyurveda treatments, shop for products, take classes, and hold gatherings. We have big plans to bring people in and grow our community.
In the Ramayana, Lord Ram’s devoted and obeisant brother, Bharata, promised Lord Ram to safeguard his kingdom during the 14 years of imposed exile. That loving duty now befalls all of us. Through love for his teachings and his unique formulations, to continue making the knowledge and the products available now and for the distant future.
We will be announcing many undertakings in the future, however, for now, we have chosen this medium to raise immediate funds.

To keep the Prana Center running in Vaidya’s absence, and for immediate purposes, the Prana Center needs funding to further build out the warehouse with walls, partitions, shelving, carpets, seating, wall coverings, and more to make this a warm, comfortable and usable space.

That’s why we’ve created this page, to help fulfill Vaidya’s dream of having the Prana Center be a fully operable, welcoming, space for sharing and spreading the knowledge of SVAyurveda.

Some of the work had already started, but we now need your help in making sure the Prana Center will open its doors to a beautiful functional interior! With everything that Vaidya Mishra has given to us so generously over the years, this is one way that we can give back – a little bit. Everyone who donates will be invited to the grand opening celebration (date to be determined).

Thank you for your support of The Prana Center, SVAyurveda, and Vaidya’s legacy.
Help spread the word!

a loving invitation, from Bonita Carol, to the SVA Community at Large

I first met Vaidya while I was working at  the MAPI (Maharishi Ayurveda Products International) store in Seattle Washington in 1996. He was the master herbal formulator for the company, and came to Seattle to offer in-store consultations and staff education. He would come to town for 4 days at a time, about every other month.  It was here, that I learned everything about the delicate and precise herbal formulas he created,  and how they influence the subdoshas anddhatus.  The first time he ever took my pulse was during one of those stays, and the first thing out of his mouth, was “you have the same problem as I do, we are both in the wrong culture!” I don’t know how he knew that from my pulse, but its very accurate even to this day, perhaps many of you also feel that way.  During those visits, I had the privilege to drive him to his consultations in surrounding cities, sit down with him during the ayurvedic consultations and take notes from him. Those sessions were so educational, as I would observe him giving recommendations and guide people onto better health. I also learned to cook many ayurvedic recipes from him. I remember, once, he asked me to cook bitter melon (karela). And I had never tried it. I prepared it and just before serving it I thought I should take a taste. I could not believe how bitter it was.  I was worried that I would be serving my teacher something that was either rotten or tasted terrible. I was so nervous to serve it to him, but he seemed to enjoy it.  I have so many many stories and memories that I will share with you over the months.
I attended many of his training courses over the years. He was my guru/teacher, friend, brother, and guiding light who helped maintain my perfect health.
I recently completed my thesis as a psychotherapist. I dedicated my work to Vaidya Mishra who has taught me all that I needed to learn in ayurvedic healing.
I know he is still here with me, with us all, residing in the love of our hearts, forever guiding us toward health.
Did you know, that even though our first impulse might be to isolate ourselves in times of grief, it is in fact healing to mourn and laugh together? I would like to extend an invitation to each and every member of the SVA family at large: if you feel the pull to simply gather and cook together, to celebrate Vaidya, and his SVA knowledge, contact me. I will help you put into place a healing “structure” that involves the use of the SVA Samadhi Marma points, and explain how that opens the heart lotus. If you do the Samadhi set before meditation, it enhances supports your yogic connection. When you do it before you eat, it helps you manufacture lots of bliss/ojas from the nourishment you are getting. During times of grief, I highly recommend people to be, see, and eat together. Community is important for mental and physical health, and well as longevity. Connecting and touching each others’ heart through tears, laughter, and Vaidya’s SVA Marma points, doing the marma massage on the heart points on each others palms – it’s such a lovely ritual.

I also recommend learning to sing the Heart Lotus mantra he had taught us. Singing it together. Our culture isolates too much.
We can telecast the gatherings for people who are from o
utof town, but preparing delicious SVA food together, and sitting down to eat together, that is a divine experience.

Bay Area SVA Luncheon Gathering  in  Vaidya’s Loving Memory

A couple of weeks ago, one of my teachers, Vaidya Rama Kant Mishra, passed on. He was one of the best Ayurvedic teachers, practitioners and innovators. While most Ayurvedic practitioners focus on balancing the doshas (balancing the body for ongoing health), Vaidya went far beyond that. The cookbook we worked together on acknowledged that by the time most Westerners discovered Ayurveda, the tissues of the body, dhatus, had been compromised by years of neglect and worse which led to the source of the problems that brought Vaidya’s patients to him. Vaidya spent his life developing recipes to Ayurvedically heal existing problem areas, and as far as I know, this made him unique as an Ayurvedic Practitioner.
Nancy and I met Vaidya and Melina when they came north to visit with his patients. Over the course of about 5 years, we hosted the Mishras and his friends, guests and patients 3 or 4 times a year for consultations and meals that he shared with all who came. It was a delightful and insightful time. The cookbook grew out of those gatherings. Nancy credits Vaidya for her recovery from a bicycle accident that left her in a coma from which the doctors did not expect her to return home.
Amazingly, Vaidya’s warmth, concern and caring outshine even his prodigious professional accomplishments. When most Ayurvedic practitioners (the good ones, anyway) examine the pulse, it always feels to me like a searchlight comes on to look at one aspect after another in the pulse. With Vaidya Mishra, however, there was no need for a searchlight. When he looked at the pulse, all the lights came on: there was no darkness. When you have that kind of ability, it is possible to see, at the faintest level of the pulse, someone’s soul. Of course with pulse diagnosis, it’s always reciprocal. In order for Vaidya to see your soul, he had to be willing and able to bare his own. I think that’s where the warmth, concern and caring came from.
On the occasion of his passing, I simply wanted to invite anyone who remembered how special those gatherings were. Needless to say, we filled the house with two over-flow tables for lunch.
Here are some images and moments from our get-together.

Time To Detox

Radiant Health Through SVA Home Detox

There is nothing more precious than experiencing radiant health.

How can we enjoy our birthright – higher states of consciousness and the bliss that lies latent in every cell in our bodies – if we are feeling sick, tired, depressed and our physical bodies are laden with toxins?

But robust health is a rare commodity these days, as we fall victim to the temptations of eating unhealthy processed foods, go to bed late and then just pop pills for the ailments that will eventually arise from this type of lifestyle.
There is a way out however, and it is totally within your reach.  The key to good health is 3-fold:  eat healthy, keep a good daily routine, (going to bed early and waking up early), and learn correct detoxification.
When I tell patients they need to do these 3 things in order to regain their health, they automatically start telling me of the cleanse they just finished – they either did a maple syrup-cayenne pepper cleanse, or a series of colonics or a liver cleanse using milk thistle.  Many of them have taken harsh herbal laxatives such as cascarasagrada and senna.  Yet, even though they have just finished their cleanse they are not only still highly symptomatic, but more often than not, they are in worse shape than before they started their cleanses.
So here we have a beautiful booklet by Vaidya Rama Kant Mishra, where he systematically and sequentially unfolds the knowledge of his divine family lineage, Shaka Vansya Ayurveda (SVA for short).
As you read through the pages, you will be struck by the attention to detail Vaidya Mishra brings to whatever he does.  He describes everything you need to know about detoxification:  the 4 types of toxins and where they come from, a thorough discussion of the physical and vibrational channels and the role they play in the detox process. Then he describes in even greater detail the actual cleanses – keeping in mind that we not only want to pull out the toxins, but we want to direct them to the bowel and kidneys for evacuation and we also want to bind them while waiting for evacuation from these areas so they do not start roaming and creating havoc somewhere else in the body.  And while doing all this, we have to keep the liver cool so the patient doesn’t develop rashes on the skin or develop loose bowel movements.
Having taken thousands of patients through this cleansing process, paying attention to these details as the patients do their cleanses, I can tell you this type of detox works extremely well – and best of all it is fairly easy and safe to do.
Many times, a patient will come up to me and ask me if there is a cure for cancer.  This is your “cure” right here, in the pages of this booklet.  And it turns out that the cure for not only cancer, but any serious disease you can think of, comes in its prevention – again, by eating healthy, going to bed early and learning correct simple daily detoxification procedures.
I see thousands of patients each year.  And I see lots of suffering. But I can tell you honestly and with strong conviction:  the suffering can be alleviated – it is within your reach – and you, like all of my patients can do this – you will be amazed at how quickly your health returns, thanks to the guidance and teachings of Vaidya Mishra and his millennial healing family lineage.

Recurring Sinus Infections and Airborne Allergy Symptoms

“I thought this would be an appropriate case history to share with everyone, since we are at the height of the allergy season.  I always like to show patients there is another alternative to automatically taking pharmaceuticals for each and every imbalance that arrives throughout the year.  This is especially true when it comes to allergy symptoms.

As with everything we do, we have to get to the root of the problem.  Normally the immune system has the intelligence to know what to attack, such as viruses, bacteria, parasites, etc.  However, various influences can throw the immune system out of balance causing it to become hyper-reactive, and as a result it can begin attacking dust, pollen, molds, foods and sometimes even the person’s own body, resulting in auto-immune reactions and diseases.

The most important thing to do is to identify all the factors which are throwing the immune system out of balance.  In this patient’s case, there were a few mitigating factors:

First, she was receiving flu shots every year for about 20 years, which resulted in high levels of mercury settling in her bone marrow.  Mercury has a burning quality, and as a result, it can immediately burn out the friendly bacteria which reside in the gut, within 15-20 minutes of receiving the immunization.  In addition, it can pierce through the seven tissues (blood plasma, blood, muscle, fat, bone, bone marrow and reproductive fluids) and go straight to the bone marrow/nerve tissue, upsetting normal immune function.

We began the use of Rasa Sodhaka drops, ingeniously developed by Dr. Mishra, based on cilantro, which is the best chelator of mercury, and is non-toxic,  unlike so many of the chelating agents on the market.  As her levels of mercury came down and her friendly bacteria grew, her immune system gradually retained its intelligence.

Also, remember this:  the friendly bacteria keeps the immune system intelligent.  When present in normal amounts in the gut, they prevent the immune system from hyper-reacting to all the allergens present in the environment.  We only use the Natren Probiotics since they are 100% potency guaranteed.  In the early years of my practice I looked at all the probiotic companies under a microscope and was shocked to discover the probiotic cultures were dead in every company, except for Natren.  When I contacted the company, I was told that they discovered how to process their live probiotic cultures (taken from Russia) without killing the culture during the processing of the probiotic. This patient had been eating yogurt, which we had her discontinue, since it is channel-clogging.  Most Americans eat yogurt in the wrong way — cold, in smoothies, at breakfast or dinner.

We had her avoid yogurt until her clogged channels cleared out, then we described the best way to make yogurt — using the Natren Yogurt Starter.  Years ago Dr. Mishra and I tested all the yogurts and yogurt starters.  None of them met his standards, except for this one.  When we made yogurt using it, he exclaimed that this was the type of yogurt his mother used to make, and the type of yogurt the Ancient Rishis who cognized Ayurveda recommended.  It had an alkaline taste.  If the yogurt is too acidic, these acids can actually kill the friendly bacteria they are trying to propagate.

However, there are strict rules about taking yogurt in the correct way:  it should never be combined with spinach or fish, it should be eaten more in the summer months when the sun is closest to the earth, preventing ama from forming from the cold yogurt.  It should also be made into a medicinal lassi, only taken in between bites of food at lunch, when the digestive fire is strongest.  Here is the recipe:  1 part yogurt, 3 parts water, 1 pinch of dry toasted (or toasted in ghee) ground cumin and a few fresh cilantro leaves.  Blend, and sip on this during lunch.

Next, we examined her diet thoroughly and identified numerous problematic foods, such as peanut butter and hard cheeses, which were clogging her physical channels.  Keep in mind the sinuses and lungs are a physical channel, which air should go through.  When we eat foods which are heavy, processed, and leftover, the delicate physical micro channels of the body will clog up, creating a substrate for infections to grow.  Once this patient gave up all the channel-clogging foods, in time her repeated sinus infections went away.  She strictly followed her dietary recommendations and as a result experienced a quick turnaround with her health.

At the same time we cleaned the bone marrow with Vaidya’s Guduchi transdermal cream down the spine twice a day and also taught her how to make drumstick (moringa) soup, which can also clean the bone marrow.

When serious types of toxins, such as those found in the flu shot,  enter the body, free radicals are immediately formed which can cause serious diseases.  Our antioxidant system, known as the glutathione system, can attack and dismantle these free radicals, but with so much exposure to numerous chemical toxins (gar vista) and internal ama visha, which is created from bad food and/or improper digestion, the glutathione system can become seriously depressed.

I spoke with Dr. Mishra about this problem four years ago and he was the first to make a Glutathione cream, based on natural ingredients, not synthetic like most of the companies use.  In fact, he made a powerful cream using fresh guduchi leaves from his own garden, mixed with glutathione:  Guduchi with Glutathione Cream.  This is what we used in her case.

As we cleaned her bone marrow and chelated out the heavy metals, and as she strictly watched her diet and daily routine, we then next taught her how to do Panchakarma at home, which she did once a week until the immune system once and for all settled down.

It has been over six months since she has had any allergy symptoms or sinus infections.  She is forever grateful and always tearfully expressing her gratitude whenever she comes for her follow-up visits.

I am so grateful for having studied with Dr. Mishra for the past 17 years.  All of us have been blessed by his knowledge.  I personally will continue to educate and treat the public as much as I can in his ground-breaking technologies, as he brought this ancient medicine of Ayurveda into the modern age.  Thank you Dr. Mishra for sharing your unending fountain of Vedic knowledge with all of us.  Your wisdom has alleviated much suffering in the world.”

in memoriam

our beloved Vaidya left us on April 13, 2017.
He was as bright as a thousand suns,
playful like Krishna,
valiant like Rama,
cognizant as Brahma,
powerful like Shiva,
and an ocean of eternal bliss unfolding within the silence of Vishnu.
“Vaidya Siromani,” the jewel of the crown, as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi fondly addressed him, healed us through his unsurpassable knowledge of the ayurvedic scriptures and his  mastery of scientific health literature. His gifts of the SVA lineage, including his unique unparalleled formulations, will forever stay with us. With his beautiful voice and soft presence, he every so gently guided us, consoled us, helped us, maintaining us in our dharma.
Even as we remain bereft and unconsolable in our attempts to converse with him, our longing to see him, and engage with him, we know he now resides in the deepest recesses of our being, in our silent core. As the Bhagavad Gita reminds us “These bodies are known to have an end; the dweller in the body is eternal, imperishable, infinite” (Chapter 2, verse 18).
Our beloved Vaidya is ever present in his imperishable form,
ready to guide our steps, reminding us in his sweet voice,
 “don’t worry!”
His SVA legacy lives on not only within our hearts, but through the countless trained SVA practitioners, health experts, educators and therapists, who will continue his work, spreading the light of his healing knowledge and unique pranic formulations, to give us and maintain us always in more balance and bliss.
…we love you forever Vaidya Mishra…
