Devadaru Pine Tree – Nature’s Best Hormonal Modulator and Rasayana For Her

Devadāru – from the Sanskrit deva, ‘god,’ and dāru, ‘wood’ or ‘tree’ literally means ‘tree of the gods.’  There are currently 126 documented species of pines in the world. In my ancestral homeland of Jharkhand, in North East India, the Pinus roxburghii (Pinus longifolia) commonly known as “chir pine” or “longleaf Indian pine,” decks our landscape with its majestic and aromatic presence. My father, Vaidya Kameshwar Mishra, used pine needles extensively in his practice, but particularly to address female hormonal issues – for women of all ages. In Ayurveda, devadaru is used in many different recipes and formulas as a primary ingredient. pine-2012-12-5-PineNeedles1

Best Yogavahi for SVA Hormone-Modulating Formulas and a Great Rasayana

The ancient ayurvedic healers who cognized the health benefits of pine listed how the tree had a long, sturdy, and healthy life and was impervious to seasonal changes:  pine trees display a unique tolerance to climactic change and variations. They easily tolerate scorching summer temperatures, but also thrive in cold weather, snow, and ice. This tolerance to weather extremes translates into this tree’s unique health-endowing prabhava (post-digestive energetic health properties). When used properly along with a balanced diet and routine, adding pine needle to your herbal protocol can promote a long, healthy, and sturdy life, by working from the level of the hormones.

Let us see what the 14th century source textbook of Bhava Mishra, the Bhav Prakash Nighantu has to say about Devadaru:

Recently, I was doing some research for additional hormonal modulators for women, and I remembered my father’s teachings on Devadaru. Did you know that devadaru also carries therapeutic aromatic properties? The scent of the devadaru tree is particularly uplifting for a woman according to the shastras. I decided to make a Devadaru or Pine Needle Herbal Memory Nectar Drop to make all its hormone balancing properties available for women.  I also went ahead and revised my Flash Freeze formula and added Devadaru to it to further help with menopausal hot flashes and symptoms.

My SVA Herbal-Memory Nectar drops carry the intelligence of the devadaru; the vegetable glycerine base acts as the best yogavahi (carrier) to deliver the properties of the pine needles to deep tissues. When taken with my other hormonal modulating formulas such as: Femi Ojas, the For Her Cream, the beneficial properties are enhanced give a rasayana (rejuvenator) effect. Devadaru can also be used by pre- or post- or menopausal women.

Pine needles are a great rasayana for women and they support overall hormonal activity and balance.  But pine needles do not directly supply hormones; nor do we typically use them singularly to encourage the body’s natural production of female hormones.  For that purpose, we can support the hormones in a balanced way with may different tools. I have countless women who come to me seeking ayurvedic help, so I have put together many unique formulas to help with this condition. Namely:

Femi Ojas HMN  & Femi Ojas Transdermal Cream

Cream For Her & Shakti For Her HMN Drops

Shatavari Herbal Memory Nectar

Flash Freeze Tablets & Flash Freeze HMN

Ashoka HMN & Ashoka Transdermal Cream

Kimini HMN & Kimini Transdermal Cream

These SV Ayurveda products contain herbs and spices that support the production of hormones and also the flow, delivery, and interaction of the female hormones with the organs and systems.  But, as you know, I always strive to improve my formulas or add new better formulations. If you ask me, the Pine Needle HMN Drops would represent a quantum leap in hormonal delivery!  Adding these drops to any, or all, of the formulas listed above gives the best yogavahi. A yogavahi, as my father explained, is an intelligent ingredient that enhances the delivery and interaction of all ingredients in a formula.  Pine Needle carries all the properties of the best yogavahi. But in addition to that, it is also a great rasayana  – it helps reverse aging, promotes longevity, and strengthens immunity.

Why and how do pine needles support a woman’s physiology?

In general terms, Devadaru pacifies apana vata that governs the reproductive area); it also helps reduces inflammatory toxins by cooling off the pitta of the blood. Overall, it is a great plant for pacifying all vata subdoshas.

On a more specific level:  First, it lubricates all the dry micro-circulatory channels due to its unctuousness and further opens and enlivens the channels with its warmth.  Usually, when we use unctuous herbs and foods, we risk clogging the ‘srotamasi,’ or physical channels.  But pine needles, due to their laghu or light quality can enter into any micro-channel and support the flow of hormones in the channel so that they reach and interact with the organs and organ systems.DevaDaru

Lubricating and enlivening the physical channels is no small point, especially as a woman ages. Due to advancing age, or other factors, the micro-circulatory channels transporting the hormones can become dry, stiff, and narrow. In particular, during the vata time of life, starting the 3rd quarter around age 65 and above, a vata aggravating diet, or vata aggravating routine with poor sleep will do the trick. Great exposure to EMF devices that carry electro-magnetic fields also promotes such imbalancing.  In these situations, even though a woman’s body may still be producing all the essential hormones, the poor flow and delivery of the hormones will be similar to her body not producing any hormones at all, and result in early aging symptoms.

Pine needles are slightly bitter in taste.  Bitter tasting things are made primarily of akash or the space element according to Ayurveda. This is said to help open and detoxify overall circulatory channels.

Pine needles are also known to be ushna or warm, so we know they give deep thermogenic enlivening activity to the channels.

Last but not least the vipak or post-digestive effect is pungent. This helps burn the micro-molecules of ama that otherwise clog the micro circulatory channels.

So you see this is how Devadaru helps a woman’s physiology: it cleans and clears the paths of the micro and macro channels to better deliver the hormones. When my Devadaru Herbal Memory Nectar is taken along with the SVA Femi Ojas, or Shakti for Her drops, it aids in their delivery faster and more efficiently and results are more visible more quickly. In this capacity, Devadaru is a fantastic yogavahi for all these nectar drops as it enhances their delivery and action to further support a woman’s physiology.

Who Should Use Devadaru Herbal Memory Nectar Drops?

The Devadaru Herbal-Memory Nectar Drops may be used by women ages 15 and above. It can be used by those with normal hormonal levels looking to balance the flow  and delivery of hormones; it can also be used by post-menopausal women seeking to  but having some problems with hormonal delivery due to problems in the channels.  Devadaru HMN drops are especially useful for women with declining levels of hormones: peri and post-menopause.  Read more about SV Ayurveda formulas and home-remedies and protocols for hormonal balance on my blog here: Additional hormonal balance details for peri- and post-menopausal women  and 5 Key Factors and Practical Tips for Hormonal Balance in Women. If you already have a SVA hormonal protocol, you can just add Devadaru Nectar drops to it to further enhance its efficiency.

New & Improved Flash Freeze Tablets & Flash Freeze HMN Drops

I added pine needles to my Flash Freeze Tablets and Flash Freeze Nectar drops and had some clients  test them for efficacy. Here is what one client had to say:

Heavenly SVA herbal “nectar” drops

“I am in my mid-forties. I started having hot flashes about two years ago. I went to see Vaidya Mishra for a SVA consult, and he gave me a full SVA protocol that consisted of Herbal-Memory Nectar Drops, Transdermal Creams and a proper diet for balancing estrogen and progesteron on a monthly basis. After implementing everything, I experienced some relief, but not completely. So I went back for a follow-up so he could adjust things further.

Vaidya Mishra checked my pulse and told me that my hormonal imbalance were working in tandem with liver issues, aggravating things further. He said the original guidelines had helped pacify some immediate hormonal imbalances and that I this point I was ready to take things to the next level. He explained that this is how Ayurveda works: it’s an ongoing process of fine-tuning and slowly addressing the root cause. He explained that at this point I was ready for additional herbal support. He said he was researching the hormonal balancing powers of Pine (Pinaceae). He said he was in the process of making Pine nectar drops. In the meantime, he gave me some fresh pine needles, collected from the pine tree in his own backyard, to add to my herbal tea. As per his suggestion, I included few strands in the SVA Tripti Tea I was drinking after dinner everyday.

To my surprise after ten days, my hot flashes completely vanished, and I started seeeing all signs of hormonal balancing. My mood also improved. After two years of incessant hot flashes, I finally feel cool and comfortable again.

I am very much looking forward to trying the actual Pine Herbal-Memory Nectar drops as an ongoing protocol since I am now in my early menopause.

I want to thank you, Vaidya Mishra, for your guidance and healing, and yet another divine herbal “nectar” drop from SVA Heaven!”

SK.

The pine needles in the nectar drop and in reformulated Flash Freeze Tablets & Flash Freeze HMN are sourced from my very own back yard – a special area of land where I grow many fresh ayurvedic herbs and spices for certain formulations.
